Steel player on RFD?

The other day, I was watching the Wilburn Bros show on RFD. Sometimes the steel player is Hal Rugg, however, this time I could not recognize who the steel player was, but, he was playing a MSA (possibly a Dl2). Loretta Lynn was the featured vocalist. This program aired just a few days ago...does any...

Yes...this is a very useful change for the 7th string (changing the F# to G). This change enables you to get a very nice 7th on the "pedals down" chord.

No doubt about it...there are a lot of real good JEFRAN courses. I would say, probably, the GIVE ME AN INTRO course (it is a lot of fun) and also the JUST PLAY THE MELODY or the BACK UP courses. These will give you a lot of great instruction along with a lot of enjoyment as you hear those good sound...

I have the exact twin to your new Williams PSG. I bought mine two years ago, it is the same color and all, it was pictured in the #2 issue of "Pedal Steel U.S." magazine. Anyway, it is a dream to play and I have had a lot of positive comments and compliments on it. I doubt if you will see ...

Nashville 400 in the park...

Had a play-outside with a group, backing singers. Noticed a couple of amps not quite handling the extra volume needed to play outside with a situation where the performing got sort of (unnecessarily) loud. I just want to say that these good old NV400s deliver and once again I see that they are a rea...

Theresa...When the Sound Stage Program on George Jones aired, they gave a phone number for a few seconds at the close of the program. I quick called and ordered, but I am sorry to say that I cannot find the number. I hope someone on the forum will come to your rescue on this. Watch the PBS listings ...

No..all "big" productions do no sound bad (although some do). I refer you to the Sound Stage presentation of "George Jones, 50 years of hits". Every lead instrument comes through loud and clear, and of course this includes the pedal steel work of Paul Franklin, and one or two tha...

U.S. Navy, l957 to l96l, came out a Second Class Yeoman. The Navy was good to me and I truly enjoyed it. Also, I met quite a few guitar pickers in the Navy, and used to go into Horners music store (down town Honolulu) and look longingly at the Fender 400s and l000s. I wish I would have bo't one then...

MultiChord mania

My first steel was a used MultiChord, 6 stringer with four pedals. I bought it second hand for $50.00. At the time, I figured I really had something...anyway, it got me started and of course, like everyone else, I progressed and moved up to a Fender 400, followed by a ShoBud LDG and at this time a W...

The worst steel for me was the one I started out with...a MultiChord 6 string, 4 pedals. The guitar was bad by todays standards, but, I give the Harlin Bros. credit...they probably got a lot of people into starting back in the early early fifties. Building them, like playing them...you start at the ...

After reading the above posts, it becomes obvious why you don't sit up to someone elses PSG and "take off". If the levers and pedals are different from yours, it is like trying to type with the letters rearranged on the key board. The right arrangement???well it is the one you are used to ...

The best advice you ever had?????

In the number 2 issue of Pedal Steel.US, there is an article by Mike Smith entitled "Playing With Confidence". I read and re-read that article several times and as far as PSG playing is concerned...that article comprises the best advice I have ever seen. The purpose of this post is not to ...

I think one of the classic trademark, signatures of a ShoBud, is the attractive inlay work on the apron of most ShoBuds. I had a very nice (no dings and bright color) ShoBud LDG. A friend wanted to learn PSG, and to help him acquire a good guitar, I sold him my ShoBud LDG. Well...in about five minut...

Probably the first gig for me was at the highschool auditorium in Summit S.D. playing with a small group doing a benefit. I played a six string MultiChord thru an Airline amp. Gary; Take the steel apart, put it in the case,EVERYTIME you haul it somewhere. I know of two instances (not mine) where the steel (in set up condition), tipped over going around the corner in a van. There is a nice gash on the front apron on one or them, the other one soon developed "wobbly le...
