A nice time remembering a friend. What made it special for me was watching Eric's Mother's face. I was sitting next to buddy Doug Jones, and had a good view...Audrey was smiling from ear to ear. She was obviously thrilled that so many of Eric's friends showed up. And she is at peace. :)

Sorry to hear...he was a friend and a great player. His posts usually made me laugh...and think. I feel for his family and those of you who knew him a long time. I know he loved greasy fries, dogs, pedal steel, family and friends. He will be missed.

RIP Eric

Wow! A Jerry post that hasn't gone south! I'm impressed. For an admitted non-player he did fine. Why? He was "musical." Like others said, he did much more than TYC. The note before the solo says it all...and it was the first take. He wanted more, but they about said that was it. The rest i...

Jerry Garcia finger picks

Haven't been on the Forum for a while. Just wonderin' if Jerry Garcia used a finger pick on thumb and index finger only or also on the third finger, since his "bird" finger had been cut off on a camping trip years before by his brother Kip. I understand that any Jerry references here usual...

I found out about John's passing yesterday afternoon. I didn't know him very well, but I had the pleasure having John sit in with or band Blue Moon Highway 3 or 4 times. He was a pleasure to play with, and a gentleman in every sense of the word. He told me he loved playing with us because we were wi...

Can't play mp3's...missing codecs

I can play any mp3 I have on my HD, no problem. A friend sent me a couple of mp3's from a jam session we had, that he recorded. When he sent them to me, I was unable to play them, due to "missing codecs." I get the message: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. One or more codecs requ...

Email?

I'll be moving soon, and won't have Comcast, so I need set up another email account. I'm not sure where I want to go: Hot Mail, Yahoo, GMail, etc.

Looking out there at what is free, in your opinion, what is the best, most user-friendly email available?

Any help/opinions are appreciated.

Eden Nemesis NC-320 bass combo for steel?

I've had my friend's Eden Nemesis NC-320, 4x10 bass combo for a while now, trying to sell it for him on craigslist. In the meantime, I've been playing my early 70's ZB S-10 throught it, and it sounds great. I'm using an RV-3 pedal for reverb/delay. Have any of you tried this, and if so, what are you...

Again, I want to thank everyone for their responses. This thread took a bit of a turn...my original question regarded the legal definition of "professional musician." Also, thanks to some local boys who chimed in: The notorious Eric West, the suave and sophisticated Ray Montee, and my favo...

Thanks for all the great comments. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that I didn't have an attorney; I do. I just figured I could get some free advice or knowledge from you guys...every time I email my lawyer it costs me. I went through the Oregon Bar for a reduced rate because I don't have a lot of...

"Professional" musician?

I have a question. I am currently unemployed and going through a less than amicable divorce, and I don't trust my wife and her lawyer...I want to avoid them bending me over and taking all or part of my stuff. If I were to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy, my musical gear would be "protected/exempt&quo...

Ray -- Thanks for the kudos to Doug playing with our band, Blue Moon Highway. That was a few years ago...he's a great player, especially if you give him room to soar.
