Doug, Every "Rick" with that horseshoe pickup sounds better than any other lapsteel, at least to my ears. More chime, better sustain, and a bigger, richer tone overall. I have a Stringmaster, a Custom T8, a National New Yorker, a Supro D6, and one Ricky Bakelite. I also did some work on a ...

Yikes! Angle grinder was here!

Holy crap, I just noticed the bit of the flange that was ground away to get the speakers to fit next to each other in that twin.
Not a factory job I would imagine...

Stringmaster schematic

I'm in the process of restoring/building a single neck stringmaster out of a neck and parts snagged off ebay. I'm in need of schematic info for the Vol, Tone, and pickup Blend pot values. I think Volume and Tone are 250K, but I dont know what the Blend pot should be. I plan to use a .05uf cap for th...

Cleaners!

When you clean them, dont use glass cleaner or any solvents. Just a very minimal amount of water on a damp cloth. The glass cleaner may remove any inked lettering. (spoken from experience :( )
Even water can dissolve some lettering.
Congrats a bunch on the tube motherlode!

Timing is everything.
I'd grab this guitar in a split second if it was 30 days ago.
Someone's going to get a heck of a deal.

Hiya Ken! I had a Fender short scale for my wife, and she liked it, and it sounded good. Then I found that Hamer makes a short scale, 2 pickup model, available with a flamed maple top, for $200 or less! I bought her one and it is an AWESOME little axe. (just in case your current deal doesn't go thru...

Genz Benz

"Genz Benz Shenandoah with Fishman Pickup on D-18 is terrific."

Better than terrific, asounding!
I tried at least a dozen, then played thru a friend's Genz.
That was it for me, and I also use it for Jazz guitar, and keyboard.

Classic 30

Classic 30's are solid state rectified. Great little amp, and that Blue Marvel is actually made by Eminence. A very good speaker. Not a Weber or JBL, but still a very good speaker I like that idea of a lower gain 1st preamp tube. I'll try it on mine and see how it goes. I have only one concern about...
