I have a similar issue with my Katana 50 - I can't turn the delay off. I turn the knob to full on and then to off, but nothing happens. Fortunately the delay that is produced is not too obnoxious. I also have an issue with the 'clean' knob. The default seems to have some overdrive on it, but if you ...

Tuners for Dobro
Hi I'm looking for tuning machines for a 1980s Dobro with a slotted head. The old tuning knobs gave up and I'm getting tired of using vice grips to tune  The Dobro manufacturer is Original Musical Instrument Company, Huntingdon Beach, California Thanks, Harry Williams, Vancouver Island, BC, Can...

I loved that video of you changing a broken string while both singing and keeping the rhythm! I also really liked your video playing Brian May's Last Horizon - the guitar player was great too on that one! Hope you get well soon!

There are many many people who would like to read music and know music theory but there are absolutely no people who do read music and do know music theory who wish they didn't! It's an additive thing, knowing music theory in no way detracts from what you know and do well now, but could open up wond...

I play a Selmer tenor sax, and it is wonderful to play. With vibrato, bending notes, and growling (humming while blowing) it is a very expressive instrument. Also for visceral enjoyment it's hard to beat! By that I mean when you blow into it your diaphragm, windpipe, and mouth are actually part of t...

As they say there are many ways to skin a cat, and for instruments we grow to like what works for us. However there is an argument to have a more-or-less standard tuning / copedant for the U-12 simply so that teaching materials and tabulatures can be traded back and forth. With TABs where the copeda...

It's worth reading Maurice Anderson's article on the subject: http://www.b0b.com/infoedu/future1.htm For myself having a Uni is a no-brainer - only one neck and fewer strings to replace and one great big tuning. I can read any tab for either E9 or C6 on one 12-string uni neck. That said, if you are ...

Supro Guitars
Hi Michael
Thanks for the info on these instruments. I've had both a Supro comet and airline model for years and didn't even know what they were! However this hasn't stopped me from playing and enjoying them.

Notation Vs TAb
I definitely think that tab plus notation is the way to go. When I was learning PSG I worked a lot with Winnie Winston's book (and still do for that matter). It was great but the lack of notation made it hard to get the timing right on the tunes I didn't already know. For me, another GREAT advantage...
