FA: Various E9 & C6 Instruction Books & Courses

I have given up trying to learn pedal steel and be happy with my beloved lap steels! I am selling a number of pedal steel books and instruction materials I collected. Covers both E9 and C6. Most are beginner to intermediate level. You can see a list of what I have here: http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayI...

Fred: I saw the same ACL program and was blow away by combination of two songs - prefect!

I don't have open tuning tab, but if it helps the charges are:

Am - C - D - F
Am - C - E
Am - C - D - F
Am - E - Am

Good luck!

Where can I buy new steel parts?

For better or worst , I picked up a 75% complete double steel from a luthier. Body is shaped and just needs finishing.

Does anyone know there I can find new parts for a steel. I would like to turn this into a D-8. Does anyone handle bridges/PUs/tuners etc made for 8 strings?

Thanks in advance.

This one added more pearl, but I tried one of these a couple years back. It sounded good but not anything outstanding.

Opinions on Chandler Lap Steel

I am considering buying a near new Chandler RH2 lap steel. I have not played these before, so I am looking for any feedback from those who may have.

I am used to fairly good steels(Stringmaster, Ultratone, Ricks)---Would I be satisfied with the Chandler??

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Thanks for all the replies... I solved this one. I got around to opening the back of this guitar today, ready to check for loose wires, etc. When I flipped it over I found that the hum was much less noticable (???). This was very strange. I checked to make sure that wires were not moving when I flip...

Need Help Diagnosing Ricky Tube Amp Problem

Greetings - I recently bought an old Rickenbacker lap steel with a little matching amp - Model M-8. It worked before it was shipped to me. Then it arrived, I noticed that one of the four tubes had come loose in shipping and had presumably bounced around some. The loose tube was a 6V6 GTA. The tube w...

What Makes My Epiphone Hum ??

I have a 1942 Epiphone Electra lap steel I am having a problem with. Before I start taking it apart to see if I can fix it I thought I would request some input. The guitar has had very distict hum since I got it. This goes away completely if I rest my hand on the PU cover or any other metal piece. A...

Thanks for all the great input - I made a selection and pieced together a set of strings. What I used was: L>H D .07 D (repeated) .06 A .042 D .032 F# .026 A .022w D .016p F# .014 This gave me the "delta" sound I was looking for. Although I could have added C's and other notes, I decided t...

Here is some more info:
based on a standard string gauge chart I should use a 0.016 to get a D. I may end up at 0.074w or heavier for 8th string. Too heavy??

I can start there, or I can put a 0.014 on high string and have a F#.

Any thoughts...

Open D Tuning questions

I recently got a triple 8-string console. Up until now I had been playing a double 8 with various typical tunings (C6,A6,E13, etc). So now I have one more neck to play around with. I was thinking of trying out some version of Open D tuning, as I have used for years for slide guitar (a delta blues th...

Alkire EHarp System tuning question

Greetings. I have a 10-string Alkire EHarp. When I got it it was tuned using Bob Hoffnar C tuning. I have been doing some research and found that this was intended to use a special EHarp tuning developed by Eddy Alkire: E(hi) C# B A G# G F# F E C# (Low) He had published at least one book in the 30's...
