I'm more of the school of anchoring them in the wood and using the metal tailpiece as more of a guide. The wood will theoretically give you a more solid anchor and perhaps richer tone/more sustain than if the full tension of the string is pulling up on the metal tailpiece. YMMV

Bill,
That guitar sounds as great as it looks! Excellent job, and great to hear that Kevin could drop by to give all your steels a test run.

Hard to choose just one, but I do like you latest one (#2) a lot. However the aluminum B6 style (#5) I believe is perhaps the most innovative construction.

Robert, I agree that is an Ace Model, however I would be very surprised if it didn't have the post war 1.25 inch horseshoe. Maybe you measured the cover instead of the horseshoe itself? I too saw a similar one on Reverb I think that was identified as a 1930's Model B, but that was an incorrect ident...

Farther On

I would have to throw this solo in there, Farther On with Jackson Browne. The tone, execution and sheer beauty of Mr. Lindley on the Bakelite Rickenbacher is just exquisite!

Thanks guys! I’ll pass along the info. Howard, it joins the body at the 12th fret. Did regal make unbranded guitars, or did the logo on this just go missing?

Hi Howard,
Yes, I have seen a few with a faux or no resonator, but this guitar does have one. Also a spider bridge configuration.

Help identifying this resonator

https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/3531_1DE0C654D7354601B152AF463B6718FA_1.jpg I was visiting a friend yesterday and he showed me this old round neck resonator he got many years ago. He ask me to help determine make and year. I could find no markings on it whatsoever. My first guess was a ...

Howdy right back to you, Mr. Bill, Still admiring your Skinny Panda. I have a few questions about the aluminum body/neck construction if you don't mind. Is the guitar and neck all milled out from one billet, or is the neck somehow added separately? Also is the body mostly hollow, chambered, or maybe...

I did find an article talking about the first carbon fiber tricone that Adams had made. My interest is piqued! Anxious to see the pictures.

Please Delete - Instrument found

I am beginning to sniff around for a squareneck tricone to help satisfy my Covid Blues. I likely can't afford a vintage National, although that is what I dream of. More realistically I'm thinking a Republic, Regal or Recording King might fit into the budget. Anyone out there have anything they have ...

Jerry,
Would love to have a frypan one day! Is that putty plug in yours soft in composition, or is it a harder material?
