Hey folks,
I'm hoping to figure out some nice duets for Ukulele and steel. Any ideas for where I might find tablature?

NYC amp tech?

Any of you New York City slickers have a suggestion for a good amp tech in the area? A friend in Manhattan needs his Deluxe Reverb gone over. Thanks-

Princeton Reverb speaker recommendation?

I need to replace the speaker in my silverface princeton reverb. In this case that would be a 12" speaker (which the baffle currently accommodates). This is primarily a guitar amp. I tend towards a cleaner tone and would be interested in headroom with warmth versus overdriven small-amp crunch. ...

Joe- I hear you. Ralph Mooney seemed to base a lot of his later solos on "Big Big Love". You can hear it all over the live Waylon double album.

It always surprises me when people draw a distinct line between classic country and country rock artists like Jerry Garcia, as though you have to be on one side or the other of some kind of generational war that still rages on. I was introduced to classic country by the music of the Grateful Dead an...

Hey Jim- Great call on "Change Partners". That's one of those songs I used to love and just kind of forgot about years ago. I never realized that was JG on steel but listening now there is no mistaking it. Garcia also played steel on Paul Pena's great album "New Train". I wouldn'...

MTV directors are certainly savvy enough about music to show soloists in action. They do it all the time in other genres of music. This would be another case of a music professional not having an understanding of the steel.

My first steel: an early Pro II. Even when I barely knew how to push the AB pedals, the tone on this guitar was awesome.

It probably goes without saying for the die-hard Rusty fans, but his playing on "Kind Woman" was one of my first introductions to the instrument and a big influence. Still one of my all time favorites. It has a kind of languid, wandering quality that is very unique.

Hey Chris- I saw you guys play a couple of years ago up here in California. At the time, I had no idea who you were and had gone out on a weeknight to see the band that opened for you. After they ended I was going to head home and get some sleep, but when I saw your steel set up I figured "well...

I don't have it in front of me, but as I recall the Winnie Winston book has a photo of Pete playing what looks like a Fingertip with his name inlaid on the front. Was this an earlier guitar that got supplanted by the one shown above?

Skip I had the same experience with my Webb. Use a flat head screwdriver and be gentle, the grill will pop off. The velcro and tight fit make it seem as though you're forcing it.

Larry-
I just noticed this post. I had seen a couple of Concert's listed locally on craigslist recently (yours included apparently) which prompted me to ask about them over in "Electronics". Were you using this primarily for 6-string? If not, did you tweak it for steel?

Fender Rivera-era Concert

Anyone have experience with this as a pedal steel amp? Seems like if it was set up properly you could have tube sound in a small package with more volume than a Deluxe Reverb could deliver (and a lot cheaper). A quick Forum search didn't yield much.
