I really enjoyed his work on Jamey Johnson's "That Lonesome Song", especially the cover of "The Door Is Always Open". Great tone, tasteful playing.

Cass McCombs Steel

I just heard a snippet from Cass McCombs' Catacombs album. I don't know the name of the track but there was some very tasteful steel. Is this perhaps Greg Leisz?

Gram Parsons Steel Players

A while back someone posted a fairly comprehensive list of the steel players on individual Gram Parsons songs. Can anyone direct me to it?

Thanks!

Andrew- I wholeheartedly agree with Bob. Years ago I took several weeks of lessons with him on his equipment before deciding what (and if)to buy. It was worth it. Since the onset of fatherhood I haven't been playing out and I'm certainly not the one to be giving lessons, but if you are interested I ...

I would hazard a guess that her thoughts revolve more around full bottles (even full diapers) than full chords. First walking, then talking, then C6th.

Thanks Jon. Gary was kind enough to walk me through it. In the end it was the split screw. There must be steel guitar gremlins with Allen wrenches in my house.

Thanks to all who responded.

Thanks everyone. Sorry I haven't checked in, but my e-mail alerts seemed to have stopped on their own. Must be that Hotmail problem. I haven't had a chance to call Gary, but when I do, I'll be sure to post my findings.

Thanks Ron. Both knee and lever lower the pitch a tiny amount directly upon being activated, but then continue to the stops with no effect. It returns to pitch perfectly. The raise works perfectly. The only other thing I noticed is that when adjusting the nylon tuners, there is a range in the middle...

Rains Lower Issue

I love my Rains SD-10, and I just ran into what seems to be a simple problem, but I can't make heads or tails of it. I lower my 5th string on pedal 4 and RKL. Out of nowhere, they started not lowering enough, and eventually stopped lowering altogether, regardless of pedal or lever. Both the pedal an...

¿Argentina Steel?

I will be in Buenos Aires from August 28th until September 1st. Can any South American steelers point me towards any good music, maybe even some steel?

Thanks!

I highly recommend studying with Bob. I'm fortunate that I live close enough to have had extensive teaching from him. He taught me everything I know, but don't hold it against him. :P Seriously, if you are nearby, I'm sure you will benefit from attending. He knows his stuff and is committed to steel...

Steel In Brooklyn On Friday

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix/3484_Rench_1.jpg I'll be playing pedal steel with The Wissler Family on Friday, May 4th at Hank's Saloon. We'll be on the bill with Rench and Chicken Teeth. The music starts at nine, we go on at 10:00. No cover. Hanks Saloon 46 Third Ave. at Atlantic Brooklyn ...

Hey, are you holding out on me? Where is there Ralph Mooney on the jukebox?! Wait...I think maybe Hank's. I can't go in there if there is no live music. It kinda creeps me out. Especially if it still light out. :P
