A Stratocaster bridge cover (yes, they originally came with a bridge cover) can easily fit over a 6-string "Stringmaster" bridge (with the blend control). Some simple fashioning of the retaining dimples is all that's needed (hint: 2 washers). http://www.music123.com/Fender-Replacement-Vint...

... I'm pretty sure now that the part I was sold wasn't for a stringmaster at all. Here's a picture of the guitar and some pics of the bridge cover I bought: Why did you buy that part based on the provided pictures?. It's extremely obvious it's a ripoff. I'd get my money back if I were you. Then ag...

This guitar appeared in many famous movie soundtracks creating unique and wonderful effects such as the ray-gun sound in the movie "War of the Worlds".
I sure would like to know how that was done. I don't recall thinking it was made with any kind of guitar.

Maybe this is the problem. EVERY DAY the person, who made the complaint, has to listen to this.

It would start to annoy me, too.

Re: Stringmaster Lust

I was a little chagrined  when I saw the official picture of us in our "uniform" of the time. Great story to go along with the new owner's Fender, Ron. Sorry to be off-topic, but what do you know of the bass guitar, on the left, in that band photo? It looks like some non-Fender vari...

I knew I had this on David Gilmour somewhere (a copy/paste): His lap steels are Jedsen* made. Both are fit with EMG H pickups (which are EMG's S single coil pickup inside a humbucker cover). The lap steels are tuned EBEGBE (open E minor) for One of These Days, and the other is DGDGBE (basically open...

If this is legit, the "custom order" is quite minimal. All that was done was to swap neck heights and put the Fender decal on the other neck. The diamond sizes were also swapped. They didn't even rotate the metal Fender nameplate. If this was a homemade modification done early enough in it...

Modern pedal steel (E9th) and Hawaiian music

My perception is that pedal steel players have little connection to Hawaiian music. The origins make a case for this, but is the E9th tuning, for example, not conducive to playing this type of music?

I read somewhere here that 2 quarters ($0.25 US coins) stacked atop one another was very close. I did the same. Tweak for amplitude and sustain, if necessary.

Interesting. Vintage pots on a guitar that you acutally play? I would think they would wear out quickly.

I've replaced one volume pot with sa brand new one, but kept the original just for build-year verification.

Fender D8 Stringmaster from 1963 (video)

This is the Outlaws - "Law & Order" taken from the 1963 UK film Live It Up. The lineup is Ritchie Blackmoore (from rock's Deep Purple fame!) far left on Gibson 335, Ken Lundgren on the Fender D8, Chas Hodges on acoustic and Mick Underwood on drums. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xedBlD...

The buyer is simply a collector. He previously paid $6000 for a 72 Telecaster.
