I could not write a decent song(melody or lyrics) if my life depended on it. I do,however, enjoy playing songs written by others. Does playing someone else's material diminish my efforts? I also have little interest in any song that isn't at least thirty years old. I have no problem with people playi...

Jeff, Even way back then you had that gleam in your eye for steel guitar. I knew you were going to make it; but, you have gone on to far surpass what I envisioned at the time. I remember the first time I saw you performing in the U.S. Navy band. I was so pleased and proud. I wanted to jump up and sh...

Pete, it has been awhile. You were remarkable back then and have gone on to become one of the A-list players in Nashville. I am so very proud of you. Bill, I am so glad that you have enjoyed the albums( about a thousand). I worry that they will hasten your mastery of the steel guitar. You are alread...

John, Bill, and Charles, Thank you so much for the kind words. Being noticed by others really makes an old man feel good.Charles, it has indeed been a long time since I saw you,and no, I don't fool with the trumpet any more. I have some fond memories of those days of long ago, especially playing at d...

I really enjoyed all the steel guitar playing! It was an honor to meet Hank Corwin. He is such a great talent. I really appreciate Hank,P.J.Babcock,Bob Stanton and little Joe playing on my set-they saved me from disaster. I was in awe of so many great players. That area is loaded with top notch playe...

Johnny Bonvillian
What a treat to see a photo of Johnny. I used to listen to him in the late forties, and possibly early fifties over a station in Louisiana I believe. He was a terrific player. Does anyone know if he plays anymore?

Dave's performance at St. Louis was the most astounding I have ever heard. It inspired me to purchase all the CDs he had available there. I look forward to the next time and will go a great distance to hear him. I can understand that his playing might not appeal to some. We all have different tastes...
