Fred - For my hand position, I found the ProPik "Reso" picks to be angled the wrong direction. My picking hand (right hand) is turned slightly to the left (counter clockwise). I've found that the regular ProPik "Angled" picks help correct for this position and give me more pick f...

Thank you for all the excellent information. With this help, my wife Lynn was able to correct the problem she was having (an issue with a filter setting). She asked me to thank you all for your help. A big thanks from me too! Bob<font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="cente...

Problem with Microsoft Outlook

My wife is having a problem with Outlook on her work computer. When she opens a new e-mail, reads it, and then just closes it, it disappears completely. Not in any folder or the delete file - it's just gone. Does anybody have any ideas? Is there some setting that she may have messed up. Any advise w...

Yea, bars are always a good topic of conversation with us reso-geeks. I'm on my fifth different bar now (Scheerhorn Chrome). This is just one of the things that you will have to try several different types and see what feels and sounds right for you. One size/type/brand does not fit all. Bob<font si...

Thank you for all the wonderful information! Yesterday I bought Roxio's "Easy CD & DVD Burning" program. Works like a charm and the wife loves it (when Mama's happy, everybody's happy!). Thanks again for the help. Is this Forum great or what!

CD Burning Software

Need some advise. I'm looking for a softwear program to burn a copy of one CD onto a blank CD. I've got two CD (one read, one write) drive system on my computer. Don't want have to download the target CD onto my hard drive to make a copy of it onto another CD if I can avoid it. Any suggestions? Than...

This idea has crossed my mind several times, so I'll just toss it out there. What if you use a microphone for your "main" sound and then setup a simple personal in-ear monitor system for the dobro only. Using a Fishman (or other brand) pickup, into a small guitar headphone amp (C Tech Pock...

Phantom Power Question

Alot of PA mixers have a single switch for phantom power and when turned on will apply the voltage (let's say 48 volts) to all the mixer's channels. My question is if I have a condensor mic in channel 1 (phantom power ON) and a Shure SM58 in channel 2, is the phantom power voltage going to damage th...

My first guitar was an Emmons student model. Could not get this little beast to stay in tune to save my life.

My second guitar was a used Emmons P-P S10 model. Great sound, but again, tuning problems all over the place.

This is well worth every cent: a great way to spend two days with one of best reso teachers going. Tons of material to take back home and work on - excellent for any playing level. Don't miss this seminar.

Ray - I know what you mean. Maybe we have already talked about all the really good stuff already (several times). Maybe we have started to "lurk" more then we used to do. Sometimes I find myself wanting to post on a topic, but I stop and say to myself "Nobody wants to read that!"...

Hi all - Maybe it's just me, but I think the PSG is just about the best instrument in the whole world to kick off a country song! Here are some of my favorites: "Rainy Day Woman" by Waylon Jennings (Ralph Mooney) "Night Life" by Ray Price (Buddy Emmons) "Different Kind of Fl...

Well said Ricky! The current management is doing a good job of balancing the old with the new IMHO. The marketplace will determine what is good or bad, and the programming will follow the money. I don't think it's necessary to turn the Opry stage turn into a fashion runway either - again the marketp...

I'd buy the same Carter D10 I bought last year. It's as good of a guitar as my simple mind can imagine. Heck, I'm not worthy of this guitar - what am I going to do with a $6000 steel. Probably be afraid to play it!<font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="center">[This m...

Some reso players might consider the $45-50 range straps as the cheap ones. Bobby Poff makes wonderful custom straps that start around $120 and go up from there. I use a Webb 2" strap with a quick-release headstock loop (about $40-45) - it's fine for now. I wouldn't go too much cheaper then tha...

I like some of the changes at the Opry. Shaking things up every once in awhile can be a good thing. Let the marketplace decide if it's good or bad. The programing will follow the money.

Now where did I put those fire-proof BVD's?

No, that's not it!!! Maybe we should just leave them both as they are. http://steelguitarforum.com/smile...
