Played thru a 70's Deluxe Reverb last night at band practice. Stock fender spkr.Swinging rockabilly blues country music. When it was pushed a bit I liked the edge of distortion that was produced.Started thinking Duane Allman Robert Randolph ? It was a pile of fun.Even added a little bourbon and didn...

I recently rebuilt a 2-12 Sound combo cabinet, cut the top off and made a seperate head for the amp. It was pine construction and had 2 nice Jensen spkrs. I belonged to the guitar player for the Republic Tigers. They were on Letterman a couple years ago. He tweaked some tubes and serviced filter caps...

Lucky Tubb band
Lucky Tubb, related to Ernest Tubb will be in K.C. Wed. at Knuckleheads Saloon. I play with Miss Major and the Minor Mood Swings and we will open the show. He needs a steel player for this show and a few others. I know this is short notice I just found out myself. If you reply I can give you the con...

My original idea was 85to100 watts verses 135 watts. The rebuilt 69 is warmer but less headroom. The 77 ultralinear transformer has more headroom but a little sterile or brittle. MY next comparison would be a/b the speakers. When I started using the 69 I quit using my profex it doesn't need anything...

Twin Reverbs
I just scored a late 70's 130watt twin with JBL's. It's in great shape. A/B with my 69 twin W Altec Lansings. I like the 69 better, warmer yet less headroom. The newer Twin has a ultralinear trans former and is heavier if that is possible. The base player tonight forgot his amp head ! We plugged my ...

Sat. afternoon Verizon theatre backline fender reissue twin very fuzzy, not good. Then heard Junior Brown using a fender custom 15 that I have played thru at kn...

What is the one variable in any guitar or steel all parts manufactured to the same specs? Why does one, as great players have said, the notes seem to jump out? Could it be the wood ? Find some old growth tight and straight grained maple send it to your builder you might be surprised with the result....
