I split all but the D# and F#'s on my BMI S10 and all splits were in tune w/o additional rods or "split tuners". Great all around. Whoosh I hadn't sold mine but it wasn't a 12 string

If a picture is worth a 1000 words, how much is a video worth? I watched Johnny's YT video and like Jack Cutshaw said [/size Thanks to Johnny Cox for doing all this work and posting it. It's not often that this type of innovation occurs in the steel guitar world. All of life is a tradeoff and there ...

Bob Tuttle that's too ironic considering i showed you this picture yesterday! The poor quality and size did contribute to not making the connection. Unbelievable, that's no doubt the same school same "trees", window pattern etc and probably close to the same year judging on the tree growth...

I maybe wrong but I think the "chromatic" strings were placed on top for the same reason they were originally on the bottom and that was so they wouldn't have to rework the pedals, rods or relearn where things were for years. And because Emmons did it that way that was good enough for ever...

Andrew as Johnathan noted putting the C on top followed by the G# F# D# B is a good choice. I did that years ago And was able to gig while adapting to the new placement of strings. Makes sense to me because it's the same as the next 4 strings and you can rake across the strings w/o the chromatic thi...

Thanks John for the information. I play an 1980 MSA universal and now that you mention it I can the MSA parts even in the poor quality pictures i received. Pete Barak, Two groups of 4 strings being the same makes more sense to me and makes it more "Universal" and was my first change towards the ultimate uni. Did you get this from someone or think it up yourself?

Steve, just a thought but it is possible that an old timer who was a C6er had that guitar step up for C6 and not E9. That would explain a lot of what's seen. A shot of the changer end with the hex adjusters would be helpful as would a picture of the whole underside. This would help Forumites to tell...

Joe, it looks to me like it's set up Emmons ABC and the next 4 pedals like the Jeff Newman UNI Copedant I posted. If the 9th string is a D on yours then I'd suspect that it may have been altered to accommodate whoever did want to relearn. Otherwise it looks to be factory. And the extra rod pull on t...

Steve, if you post pictures of the underside you'd get all the help you need from those here on the forum. My MSA is a 12 string but lever and pedal placement are original. Joe, I have the same guitar but it's #112-0030. The copedant that's on your guitar looks identical to mine except your first 3 pedals are Emmons and mine are Day (like the Jeff Newman Uni). When I got mine the previous owner tried Uni but eventually gave up but didn't change anything under the hood....
