Mod.60
Into days world you may get that price. It could be a little higher or lower. You might want to look around the web and check prices for a guitar like yours. The fact that it came from the brothers last musical venture should help. There are many people that many may want a modern reso. rather than ...

The learning route is different for folks. Why not make your choice and be the best you can be. Both guitars come with a life time learning curve.

On the road
On some dates Hank would use the local musicians. When he played Sunset Park at times he would do this. He would carry Don and Jerry but other musicians might be used
on the road. Of course he had his band but I know this was done.

I love the sound of the dobro guitar.
The dobro guitar and I have been good friends since 1976. It is an instrument that can always brighten my day. It open doors and has taken me to venues that I would only dream about. It help pay my bills for years. Are the dobro's that are being made today better? I have watched the development of t...

Rick bake sound
The sound is very lush, full, rich, but the guitar is very subject to temp. change. I love the sound of the guitars but the tuning issue has always been an obstacle. If you are not going to play it where temp. changes you should be fine.

Strings
Without handling your guitar it is hard to say for sure. You may want to buy individual strings and build a set for it. There is risk involved because it does not have a square neck and the bridge may pull up from the guitar top.The guitar was not made to play Hawaiian style. Let us know how it works...

Math
I sure know that the cones have come along way since 76. When you start percents then I just know, I do not know. Like many placing a modern USA spun cone on a reso. of choice can make that guitar come to life. Maybe the answer it is the total package that makes the guitar sound good.

That sound was before?
Eddie That sound was before we added all the electronics that are a must with many if not most modern players. Many would feel undressed with a steel guitar and a simple straight tube amp. I am amazed at all the boards, pedals and add ons that are bought to go with the steel guitar, before a steeler...

It's all fun
David Physical approach is what l am talking about. To reverb or not to reverb that is your choice. I have used it,but practice without it. Using big fat thumb picks and 020 g. finger picks was not the norm when I started learning pedal and non pedal back in 1976. The dobro was the guitar for Dunlop...

Take the mask off
If you will turn off the reverb and any other device that can cover up bad right hand playing noise than you will hear your playing. You may sound fantastic or you may want to turn up the reverb until you are floating again with dental chair steel guitar. I once knew a man who picked with his long n...

Attack ?
When one plays a steel he or she should play without noise from the picks or strings. I have never tried to attack a steel guitar or a bear, either one should be treated with respect. The way to avoid attacking a steel guitar is to use lighter gauged finger picks and developed control of the right ha...

Both of the guitars are well made and would cost much more if they were made here.I like them both, along with the Recording King. All three guitars play and stay in tune.

There was a guy who was always asking Don about his guitar, string gauges, turnings. He asked him the same thing over and over for months.Don would always tell him the info. with great kindness. The guy remarked I am going to get that Don Helms sound.Don thought about it and told me on the phone, Andy I...
