I lower my E's with my RKR and raise them with the LKR. I didn't have the E to F change for several years and when I did add it the LKR was the easiest place to put it. That's been about 25 years ago, I got used to it, and that's where it stayed.

Speaker

I am building a custom amp cabinet and I need a speaker for it. I haven't decided whether to go with a 12" or 15", I would consider either one at this point. Also, I would prefer a NEO speaker, but would consider a conventional speaker.

Barry, this would definitely be a cool guitar to play on a gig, especially with a string of LED lights shining up through it, BUT, the old wood and mica Classics were heavy, but this one is probably 10-12 lbs heavier. The pickups are single coils, are microphonic and are wound to 14.1K on E9, and 15...

Here's a "The Universal" that was one of Maurice's personal guitars built in 1984 (I think). According to Maurice, this guitar was used on the "Universal Direction" album as well as the "Dallas" TV show and lot's of live shows. I bought it from him a couple of years bef...

Here's more pics David. I use two RKL's, an inside and an outside. I also make my own feel stops, they are the black knobs with a spring behind it you can see in some of the pics. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/299_IMG_7720_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/299_IMG_7736_...

I have probably the most unique older MSA in existence, "The Plexi". This steel was built by MSA for a demo at shows, Maurice Anderson owned it until he passed, then it went to Junior Knight, then to my collection. I did some restoration on it and added three knee levers to it a couple of ...

There was also a book written about Maurice Anderson that pretty much covers the whole story. Some of the time line kind of jumps around a little, but there is a lot of information about MSA's different phases. It is called "Man Of Steel", "Mr. Universal". It was written by Fred ...

I have Alumitones with a coil tap switch on my Zum and Mullen guitars. Both guitars sound great and I can get a beefy tone, or a bright tone, whichever mood I'm in.

Hey Larry, I'm not sure what amp setup I was using at the time I recorded this, I had several amps and effects. I have a Line 6 POD on a stand beside my steel, but I don't think I was using that on this song. I think I was using this pedalboard I put together and either went into a Session 500, or a...

I never liked the SS pickups, I had a '75 Classic with single coils and it sounded really good in my opinion.
(Please excuse the playing, but the guitar sounds good.)

I like adjustable return springs so I can adjust them to just the right amount of tension required. I designed an adjustable system for the old MSA's and I convert all of mine. Michael at PSG Parts was making them for a while. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/299_P8020061_1.jpg https://bb...

I have corresponded with John Rich the steel/guitar player quite a bit. I remember him from the Oak Ridge Boys when they were strictly Gospel. He played on 2 or 3 of the Oaks Band instrumental albums along with Tony Brown who became one of the top producers in Nashville.

It is solid wood, I'm not sure of the dates, but I think they were made from around 1980 to around 1985. I have a D10 SS now and have had 3 or 4 others, they are nice guitars.

Thanks Mike for putting these profiles together, I'm kind of overwhelmed at the possibilities of the Kemper. I haven't seen any Quilter profiles yet, do you know if anyone has profiled a Quilter for steel guitar yet?

Country's Family Reunion DVD's

I wound up with some more duplicate CFR DVD's. Several classic country stars are on these and the fantastic backup band is led by Mike Johnson on steel, and has the late Jimmy Capps on guitar, Dirk Johnson on piano, David Smith on bass, and other great musicians. I have four titles, A Grand Ol' Time...

Tim, there is only one speaker output, I think the monitor output is line level for driving an amplifier. If your speaker cabs have parallel jacks, you could drive a second speaker cab off of the first one. The monitor output has to be turned on to route it through the internal amplifier.
