need help putting a lap steel Spotify playlist together

Last weekend I was working in the shop and really wanted to hear some lap steel instrumentals. I have a bad habit of using music selection as a procrastination tool so I tried searching for a playlist to get me started. There wasn't much. A couple collections that included pedal steel (gross, haha) ...

Celtic Cross Weissenborns

Hello, I have a Celtic Cross Weissenborn that I'm looking to sell. I wanted to get a little info (wood type specifically) and tried to find the company online. It looks like the site is down and I can't find contact info outside of a facebook page that hasn't been updated recently. Does anyone have ...

Need help valuing this double 8 national

Found this in a local shop. Sticker is $1,000. Said they would sell it for $850. It has no legs, nor sockets to even connect legs. No case. 2 outputs, but they are both the old style connectors. What would be a reasonable offer for it? thanks guys, http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1504/2731_pho...

I started tuning CGCDGC after figuring out a song by Tin Hat Trio. I really didn't miss the third as much as I thought I would. And you now also have a 5 chord without moving and a 6 chord 2 frets up. I like having another voicing somewhere else on the guitar without going 12 frets up.

Also, it wouldn't have to be a formal, weekly type of lesson. Maybe an hour or two here or there when schedules allow.

Pedal steel lessons in Chicago

I'm hoping to find a teacher in the city. I've been playing for about 10 years and have hit a rut. I'm looking for someone to help me focus my practice time.

Trading my 12 string for a 10

I've been looking at getting a smaller guitar for traveling purposes. I wish I could keep my 12 string but can't really afford to keep both around. Anyway, I'm toying with the idea of trading my MSA 12 (7p5k)for some sort of 10 string. Something that would fit in an overhead compartment of a plane. ...

I am also a huge fan. I've transcribed, and re transcribed several of his solos. Hopefully some of you have been lucky enough to see Bill Frisell's Disfarmer project. Ive seen it once as a trio with Jenny Scheinman on violin. The next time the same trio with Victor Krauss added on bass. Anyway, I re...

Does anyone have this book in pdf format? I would pay for copies. I tried contacting John McGann, the transcriber, but the email address on his website no longer works.

When did things get so expensive? Flying with your steel

I bought my 12 string MSA 1984ish about 8 years ago for around $1,300. I've just started looking for a simple S-10 that would be much easier to transport and they seem to start at that same price if not more. I don't really want to sell the 12 string, but I may have to to afford a single 10. On a re...

"Long way to go and a short time to get there."

I'm normally a pedal steel player, but about 2 month ago I purchased an 8 string lap steel and have been having tons of fun with it. But now I need to get serious. In about 6 weeks I have a series of shows booked where, because of logistics, I have to play lap instead of pedal. The group will be aco...

Thanks for all the help guys. Sorry I just got the message. I talked the local shop into dropping the price on the Supro so I took it. Lucky for me when I walked in and asked to plug it in it initially didn't work. The repair tech took it back to the shop twice and finally got it working. Helped me ...

I found a local store that has a 1961 Supro. Single 8 in good condition with legs and case. The asking price is $995. That is overpriced, but by how much? Could anyone ballpark how much those are worth?

looking for affordable 8 string single neck.

I've been playing a National Chicago 6 string model and love the tone. What would you recommend as a comparable 8 string? I see a lot of double neck vintage guitars of the National/Supro type, but not very many single necks. I would love to get a Fender, but its out of my price range right now. Has ...
