Seen as a dissertation, not a magazine article, the detail is understandable. Almost humorous to see it broken down into such excruciating detail, but good on her for taking it on. I thought she did a good job with it. Skimmed through a lot of it but found it interesting nonetheless.

The thing about pedal steel is that when you get good enough to just play chords, it sounds good. Many years ago I tried banjo but the sound of me practicing was like nails on a blackboard. Not to mention what I was doing to my neighbors. I imagine fiddle would be similar. I learned the basic chords...

There's a great documentary called "Sir Doug and the Genuine Texas Groove"
I saw it on Amazon a while back but now says unavailable and I can't find it anywhere.

And if there had been the Steel Forum in the 30s we'd be complaining about all the newfangled country swing music with horns and drums and electric guitars and some guy hollering in the background, and harkening back to the good old days of simple country music. What's popular is ALWAYS changing and...

Ha! Steven, If I had to deal with random sound guys that would definitely be the case, but we have the best in the biz in Daren Fleming. He has heard every note I've played for the past 16 years and I trust him implicitly. I'm lucky and very spoiled, I admit.

Any advice for using the 202 as more of a direct out to monitor/FOH without a speaker cab? We use in-ears and I have a Steelaire I plan to continue using on most gigs, but occasionally we are in a smaller setting where stage volume can be an issue and going direct gives the FOH engineer more control.

Happened to mine a couple of years ago. I was lucky enough to have a friend playing steel in the opening band who lent me his amp.
Quilter took care of it quickly. Hope I got one of the "solved" switches but not sure when they solved it. Haven't had any issues since, though.

Been using them for several years now with no problems. Had that happen a few years back with Cobra Coils. When they wouldn't acknowledge any potential responsibility or make it right, I switched to Jagwires until they became hard to get. Have had great luck with LS so far, (I use .011s on the 3rd) ...
