Traditional Hawaiian music in Waikiki
Hi All -
I'm going to Waikiki this weekend for the first time in 50 years. I'd like to spend my evenings listening to traditional Hawaiian music. I'd like some suggestions where I might hear some good bands with a good lap steel player. Thanks very much.

A6 tuning
You guys have been a ton of help. Thanks so much. My issue with changing from C6 to A6 (on a 6-string) was having the major triad on the higher strings. Now, I understand with my new 8-string, I can add a high G on the first string, and viola....major triad in C6 on strings 1, 2, and 3. Sheesh, I'm ...

A6 tuning advice
I've played mostly open E lap steel on a 6-string (Allman Bros influence). I have some experience with C6, but a guy I met pointed out the advantages of A6, the main thing being the major triad on strings 1,2, and 3 instead of 4, 5, and 6. So, I've been working on that a while. But, now I see the ad...

Hey Mark, I'm good, thanks for asking. Around here, as I'm sure you are experiencing, live music is on hold. All our gigs were cancelled, and the venues are saying they won't have live music when they reopen. I'm reading the handwriting on the wall. I'm in my 70's now, and I saw the late nights comi...

Rickenbacher Model B-6, *** SOLD ***
My playing-out days are coming to an end, and I am selling some of my gear. This is a pre-war Rick, wide horseshoe pickup (1.5"), a great guitar. I bought it here on the forum 15 years ago or so. It's generally in really good shape.....the only issue is a shallow crack in the bakelite across th...

String Gauge - Weisenborn open G
I want to tune my Weisenborn-copy to open G (GBDGBD), and I'm nervous about putting too much tension on the neck and/or pulling up the bridge. This guitar is a nice one, beautifully made by Iseman in Honolulu. But, like any hollow-neck acoustic, it gives you the sense of being light and fragile. I g...

FS: Fender Dual -6 Pro - Price Drop
Fender Dual-6 Pro, very good condition, sounds great, case in good shape, no issues. I'm asking $1,500 and would like to split shipping. Thanks for looking. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1205/251_IMG_0076_1.jpg http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1205/251_IMG_0077_1.jpg http://bb.steelguit...

What is this steel?
My house burned in 2008, and I lost most of my documentation. I can't for the life of me remember the model of this steel. Double neck, trapazoidal pickups, old..... Also, if any of you know the reasonable value of this guitar, I would appreciate your input. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix120...

Model B question
My question is pretty simple: Do the old Ric Model B's tend to be stable or do they go out of tune easily? For those interested, I'll relate my experience. I bought a Model B from a player on this forum a few years back. For some reason, I never played out with it. It occurred to me recently, "...

Gary - I received the legs and sockets and am working on my new table. Hard to do without a router. I've got a little trimmer I can use, but it's slow going trying to remove all the material. The legs look fantastic. I'm a little worried about the aluminum sockets. Will I have to be careful not to s...

Got em
Thanks very much. I just ordered 4 legs from Gary at Sill Music. Nice looking legs. He recommended four....I've had just three on my console for the last ten years, so I never thought about anything different. I'm going to try four this time. Take care, all.

Legs for a console steel
I lost my house in one of the So. Cal fires last month, and am I looking to replace a "console" table I made for my lap steels. I bought the telescoping legs for the table from a store I learned about on this forum, but dang....I can't remember who or where it was. Do any of you know a sou...
