This is great! I have all or most of Reece's available cassettes, and this is totally different stuff.
Thanks Mike,
Jeff

If you really feel you should give it up, understanding that even the best players concede it is an extremely difficult instrument to play, maybe you should go ahead and move on. It does take a certain resolve, and you have nothing to prove. Why make life more difficult than you have to? If you real...

Jeff....Good information, thanks. Could you please compare the performance of the E66 and TT versus the SS pups as you saw it. Also, what resitance was the TT wound to? The TT is wound to about 17.5. I'll just paste a post I did from June of 2003, which still pretty much says it all ...

3.Will either the George L or the Truetone fit on the pu support plate without the need to modify the pu cavity? An E-66 fit nicely into the aluminum pocket on my '76 Classic. When I went to a True Tone, I just asked Jerry to make sure the single coil's dimensions weren't larger than...

I suppose it's possible Ulf's experience with the Classic SS is slightly different than what can be expected with an older, larger Classic. The E-66 is supposed to be a really good match with older MSA's in general, and putting one on my '76 S-10 Classic was definitely an improvement over the old Su...

Thanks for the info. Were there any mechanical changes throughout the years? Yes. One of the significant ones, besides the Finnish plywood and mica to solid maple and lacquer change, is the aluminum pickup pocket that was later added to spice up the tone a little. I have one of these...

I don't know Paul, except through the Forum, but it is an amazing experience to share his knowledge and perspective on things here. A number of times I've told people how much the Forum has benefited me, and part of that story is usually how the guy who plays on a significant percentage of the Nashv...

Yeah, he's a good guy. Not only did he post a lot of good uplifting stuff on the Forum, but he was also very willing to exchange personal e-mails, when he had something more detailed to offer. I really appreciated his help when I bought my first steel, four years ago. You may already know this, but ...

The thing that is different about the chord drones I have on the CD is that they are absolutely beatless. I had a computer/composer guy make them. They are in pure JI tuning. Bob,that must be why a lot of the single-note drones and root notes of chords are actually flat or sharp fro...

I was there in Grand Rapids. If I have the year right, it's the same year that Hal Rugg was also there, along with John Hughey. Herbie, if this DVD is of your solo set that year, it's SUPER hot. Your playing that show was at least as good, if not better, than any time I've heard you so far. If I was...

Hi Reece, Thanks for taking the time to comment. I was piecing together my memory today, and I think the conversation I was referring to took place 2 and 1/2 or 3 years ago. I was consulting someone on the telephone, maybe buying accessories. It was around the time I first got my MSA, and the fellow...

I started with a '76 MSA Classic S-10, and still have it as a back-up. Mine is one of the birdseye maple models, making it a beautiful guitar. Most people think the formica models (with plywood bodies) don't sound quite as good. At some point you would probably want to change out the original pickup...
