I too was saddened to hear of Jess's passing. I would visit with him when I was in his area and yes, he did love the steel guitar so much.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

I don't get much time these days to visit the Forum , but I wanted to thank everyone for the emails and comments. There seems to be about two more years of shows yet to come that I was on during the Hee-Haw years.

I thought I would share these photo's taken at The Buck Owens Ranch Show in 1972. The Hee Haw show from this past week was done in 1973. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1205/2454_B_Owens_TBOOTH_1.jpg http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1205/2454_B_Owens_TBOOTH2_copy1_1.jpg [/img] www.slidest...

Bobby

I had the pleasure as many others to have Bobby riding guitar in St. Louis and he was always there just when you needed him...never too much, never too little. You will be missed my friend. Rest in Peace!

Tay, You are correct with your facts. The only things I can add is a story Doyle Holly told me a couple of years ago when I asked him about tuning. He laughed and said they used a Conn strobe tuner, and since no one knew how to calibrate it, it was set to Eb, instead of E. In the studio, Buck would ...

Streets of Bakersfield 1972

I have recently received a phone call from Homer Joy, the man who wrote "Streets of Bakersfield" in 1972. I have put a page up on my website to share this stroll down memory lane, at least for me. I hope you too will enjoy this information and a little history. http://slidestation.com/stre...

Dan Dowd

Dan was a personal friend of mine, as well as many others who I'm sure share the same thoughts, and I miss him very much. I would call him from time to time, and I always enjoyed our freindship and conversations. He never gave himself enough credit for the player he was. Needless to say, his passing...
