How do you guys know who it is?

It doesn't sound too much like my dad's tone but for some reason (can't remember) I thought Leo LeBlanc played on this first Marie Osmond album.

I really don't know but if you guys have a link that shows who played on it, I'd appreciate it

fwiw...I just listened to "Wasn't Born to Follow" again mostly just for enjoyment's sake.

I am completely convinced there is no Steel on this recording, the bend licks are Clarence (or someone) playing his Tele with a b-bender or whatever.

Hey Mr Chip.. You sure we aren't related?... We have the exact same, identical, joined at the hip taste in music my brother.... To answer your question, Wiki credits Red Rhodes as the steel player on that album. Makes sense too. It sounds like Red to me... THIS song is in the top five songs of all ...

Wow, Leo LeBlanc! All I knew of him was that he played on (at least the first) John Prine record in the early '70s. I was just barely starting on Hawaiian steel then, and really liked his sound. Thanks for the post, Stephen. Any chance you will come up with a CD collection of some work by your fath...

John Prine Live on Soundstage 1980 - DVD

This DVD just released, it is great, the only published concert footage of Leo LeBlanc that I know of and the sound is excellent http://musicfansdirect.com/index.asp or from amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JBXHWI/ref=cm_sp_item/103-2360552-4002222 Thank you to John Prine from my who...

Thanks Jim!

It certainly looks like Jim Palenscar could do what I need but Oceanside is a bit of a drive. If there is someone more local to Los Angeles that would be better because I don't have a lot of time but if he's the only option well, I guess I'll just have to travel.

I didn't read this whole thread but figured I'd add a cliche that has proven itself true many times...

"Yer only as strong as your weakest link"

I think this is more true than the idea that you're only as strong as your leader, though a good leader can make up for a lot

the soundtracks for the old Scooby Doo cartoon series were a huge influence on me musically...if you get the chance, watch that cartoon and really hone in on the music tracks (the songs and the themes), really cool stuff http://steelguitarforum.com/smile.gif <font size="1" color="#8e2...

my 2 cents... older CD players don't play right no matter what the CD is...the error correction is artificial and definitly lowers the overall sound quality, er, in otherwords, the music won't sound like it's supposed to in an older CD player no matter how the CD was burned/manufactured so, IMHO, if...
