What a great night! Fine, fine playing from all and a great jam at the end. I might post a few pictures this weekend. I took a lot of them but haven't had time to view them. I may also post a cut or two of the Saddle Cats set. I got the OK from Bobby Black and Richard Chon. Those guys have to get in...

We San Francisco Bay Area folks have an unusual opportunity coming up to see Bobby, Joe Goldmark and David Phillips at the end of the end of this month at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. I'm really looking forward to it! Pedal Steel Guitar Extravaganza In the Steel of the Night: with The Saddle Cat...

Roman and Rick, that dark tone is what sent me looking for that guitar. Last summer I played forumite Mark Harpainter's '37 NYer and that got me looking. Our guitars look alike (his looks nicer) but they have different bridge PUs. Mine has a blade w/out any poles and his has little flat stubby poles...

I recently bought a 1938 - 40 New Yorker. Sounded great in San Francisco when I tried it out. After my 20 minute drive home it had a terrible hum that got worse when you touched the guitar. I opened it up and jiggled and fiddled around but that changed nothing. I ended up taking it to my guitar tech...

Fred, I bought a couple copies. The pricing they had when it was in stock was something like 1 copy for $20 or if you buy more than 1 they were $10 each. Being good with math I bought 2 for $20 rather than 1. http://steelguitarforum.com/smile.gif I agree that the standout track is the haunting "...

I was told there is no room in the Centrum schedule next year so it will not be happening. It may happen again in 2008 but nothing is certain. I sure hope it does and many of us were strongly encouraging Peter, who produced the event for Centrum, to do it again. I will be posting more about my exper...

Late 1930's Kalamazoo KHG-11
It's a 1930's Hawaiian model made to be played lap style with a higher nut and saddle (which is straight) than the KG-11 and it is 12 frets to the body. For those who don't know, Kalamazoo's were Gibson's cheaper line of guitars. The Spanish style KG-11 and KG-14 guitars that I have seen are all 14 ...
