The build date was penciled in under the far tuning pan of my '56 T8, if that is what you are after. Yours looks to be in very nice condition!

Re: '51 Fender Custom T8

The legs are the same as the Fender Rhodes electric piano rear legs. They are available from Vintage Vibe, and are available individually on their site. (The front legs in a set are nonadjustable.) Thanks for the heads up. I looked at those. About $250 for three of the adjustable legs. Not too bad....

Fender Custom T8 wiring

Can anyone steer me to the wiring diagram for a Fender Custom T8? I can find the Dual Pro and Stringmaster T8 but nowhere can I find the Custom T8.

'51 Fender Custom T8

I just received this '51 Custom. I bought it on Reverb.com at what I consider a player grade price. Because guitar and case are both immaculate I hoped I had found a closet queen but on further inspection it looks like a refinish. Still I'm very happy! The pots are 1950 Stackhouse, so it's possible ...

The Twin with those Altecs sounds absolutely glorious Don! I can't imagine a better tone, although if you can get the volume up past 4 without blowing out your windows, it will have even more...more! Great job on the restoration!

Nice piece! Obviously not a refin. IMO D8s are much more sellable these days than T8s. They are more portable and not that many players left that know more than two tunings, or have need of them. I don't think the price per neck rule is valid anymore. Kind of like how you will pay more for an old Pr...

Oh my! I'm mentally adding up all the gear I own but just can't get the numbers to work.

This one sold last year. The asking price was $18k. Don't know if that was the actual selling price:

Thanks Tim W. Appreciate the input. I should be able to get more bottom end out of two 12s (24" of cone pushing air) versus one 15. Paul Franklin told me this at one of the Dallas steel shows years ago. I agree with Paul. Two 12s is great for pushing more air and are more spacious and 3D compa...

if you can find weber neomag 12" they would be pretty cool in the twin, i think. those altecs must sound great! Weber still has stock on the NeoMag 12. I tried a NeoMag 15 in my Twin and the tone was excellent, better than my D130F. However it crapped out at higher volumes due to its 70 watt p...

A worthy restoration project! But I'm wondering how it sounds. After trying at least a dozen speakers in my custom built Twin Reverb I finally settled on an Altec 418b. There is magic in the silky Altec top end that is addictive with a TR.

Beautiful amp! I shlepped a TR for 20 years until I couldn't handle the weight anymore. It was the tone that inspired me and I would not compromise. I'd say $1500 is about right, however it's probably a small buyer pool and could take a while to sell. With the trend toward lightweight class D amps (...

Very nice phrasing and tone Chris! You certainly know how to backup a singer and the song. I wouldn't change another thing on your guitar. Seems like making the jump to pedals would be the natural next step towards the sound you seem to be after. Adding fingerpicks so you can incorporate more finger...

Buddy Merril's tone on South is very tinny... not sure if he's going for that tone, but it doesn't sound good with all necks on. You do hear the boo-wah more with tinny tone. I think Buddy's tone is fantastic. Bright but with a full rich bottom end. Ear of the beholder I suppose. I'd love to know w...

Thanks for the reminder of the earlier thread Joe. I had forgotten it. The nice thing about the Stingmaster is you can dial in more neck pickup to compensate for the thinning of the tone when you switch on all of the necks. Seems like that may have been a consideration when Fender designed the Strin...

SIT Silencers are half wound. Smoother and quieter for the bar. They come prepackaged for non pedal steel in C6, A6, E13 and E7. I get them here and they ship very quickly:
