Thanks for looking at the guitar and commenting on my efforts. Damir, right you are, I don't have anything in my kitchen that looks like that. Thanks Terry, congrats on your efforts- I still need to get on board. Rick- http://steelguitarforum.com/biggrin.gif there is indeed something about this plac...

The secret of great instrument tone depends on the moment the tree is cut. Just before that great tree falls, does the cutter say Timber.... or TIMBRE! http://steelguitarforum.com/wink.gif
[This message was edited by Sage on 15 April 2003 at 07:...

Thank you all for the kind words, Gene, no offense taken. Thank you Frank. I like your reference to iron- I like it too. Titanium is great but very hard to work with and very expensive. Bill Moore, I have considered that very thing and it is a good idea. I haven't figured out a way to do it because ...

Well B0b, we leased the guitar to RR because we couldn't ask a reasonable price and recover the costs of the ONE that I made. So, in about two years what's left of it might be for sale http://steelguitarforum.com/wink.gif . Hopefully, by then I'll have another one or two built- who knows? Of course,...

Howdy all- Thanks for the questions. Dennis O, It is finally working and with Robert somewhere. He used it to record a couple of songs on his new album. One of them is the old gospel standard "Nobody", which is a kickin' song. I got a LOT of help from some great friends to be able to build...

Chas, for me your music is beautiful and moving, more classical than ambient. My .02 is that enjoying it requires a good attention span. Many Thanks, friend.

I agree with Rick on this- serendipity. The Ricks were the first high production versions of a radically new instrument. They sound incredibly good now as they did then. Aluminum was a new material for consumer production, & still pretty exotic at the time. IMHO The frypan is a minimalist form, ...

Howard, you are a bright 'light' for all of us. http://steelguitarforum.com/smile.gif It was good to meet you (and many others) in Dallas. For those who don't know, Howard was one of our first customers. Thanks for your help, and especially for pinch pitching when I was out to lunch http://steelguit...

The one and only Harmos pedal steel (S13) weighs 25 lbs. out of the case. Since the body weighs less than a pound, most of the weight is down low. Having a wider stance also helps with stability. Robert Randolph has not complained about it dancing around- but just to be sure I encouraged him to put ...

Thanks for your kind words, Andy. I've been off of the forum for a while, (busy) but am happy to be back. I appreciate those who turn their vison into reality. Once it is out there, it has to survive or fail in it's performance and in the perceptions of those who see and use it. Most new things take...

Howdy Jeff- you must have played one of the first models with all of the controls on the end- since then we have moved the volume up to the top. Thanks, guys. Yup, the Dymaxion steel. I don't mind the ugly comment too much, as Bucky Fuller said- The rose is not beautiful because it worries about style, it is beautiful because it is what it is. We're starting to get some more of these made and out there, and I hope that more of you will get t...

A great thread, all. First, I'll get the known out of the way. If it sounds good, it is good. What we hear as good sound is made (mostly) by the hands of the player. That said, we will always strive to have or make the best instrument possible. As folks above have described, it is the particular ove...

Howdy Rick- that would be cool but I don't know if it would fit with the frame clearance that I have. I actually started talking with Jason about that a year ago, but his other pickups are so good that it didn't seem neccecary to climb that big R&D hill at the time. When we do a "shoe"...

The convention was great, it was my 2nd. My only regret is that I didn't spend more time listening to the music, or jamming afterwards. Next year, I'll correct that- I'll pull together enough tunes to play on stage for a little while, and abandon my booth more often so I can listen to others. This i...

"alt" is a pretty awkward way to title anything- I think that is why folks are gravitating to "Americana" as a name. The style spread between the Meat Puppets and Dale Watson is a pretty big stretch, but both could be considered alt. country. I'm glad that Americana is growing in...
