It looks like a good quality cassette
recorder or minidisk recorder would fill the bill. Does the built in microphone on these systems sound OK or is it best to use a good quality external one? Thanks for the info.

Recorders?

I would welcome some advice on the selection of a recorder. This is for home use only so I can review my practice sessions in hopes to improve my talent or lack thereof. I dont want a casette recorder - I can sound bad enough without help from a cheap recorder. I stopped in a music shop, and when I ...

It would have been nice to get the details of this jam a little more than a few days beforehand. By looking at the flyer, one would assume the show would not end till 12:00. I had planned on driving 350 miles on Saturday for the purpose of seeing some good steel talent. I would have really been pi$$...

I think we should get Bobbe Seymour to come down for the jam. A few phone calls might help. See y'all there.

JaxJam?

Does anyone have information on the Jax Jam that was scheduled for March 2 & 3 in Orange Park, Florida? This was originally posted on Dec 30, but I havent heard any more about it, and the email address for the show is unavailable.

Thank y'all for all the good info. I kinda figured as much. If you want to hear some good ones, go to Circuit City, Best Buy or some other electronic retailer and ask a salesman ot technician the same question.

I'd also like to figure out why some amps are more suitable for the steel as opposed to a strat or other guitars according to the pro steelers out there. I guess its like anything else - its what suits the individual the best, so I guess Ya gotta hear 'em before ya buy 'em.

I appreciate all the $0.02 I can get. Like I said, I havent heard any of them yet and I'm only going by what I hear from you folks. I dont need anything fancy. It is for home use and for a beginner, so I could probably live with my gorilla for a while, but I dont want to insult my Derby D-10 when it...

Does either amp have reverb or tremolo, and are these a desirable feature for a steel?
Are they solid state or tube?

Steel Amplifiers

I'm a newbie on the steel and am totally unfamiliar with the many breeds of amps available except for what I've heard around the forum. What are the differences in the Session 400 and the Nashville 400? They seem to be a popular choice, but I havent had the opportunity to hear one.
Thanks

73 from KF4ILI in south Florida. I havent been on 10 meters for a while. I like to chew the fat - not listen to "CQ contest" for hours on end. Just getting started on the steel and waiting for my Derby D10 to arrive.
