I’m no expert on anything about pedal steel, but wanted to add this. A few years ago, Ricky Davis posted a technique for tuning that really worked for me when playing with other instruments. His point was that the tuning is A=440, not E=440, so you tune the A’s to pitch with pedals down, then tune t...

I wonder if the new series 3 models behave differently with steel than the older ones. I had a HR Deville 4x10, the one with the chrome control panel, I didn't like it for steel at all. Last year I traded it for a new HR Deluxe series 3, and to my ear it's great for steel, very rich Fender tone, hug...

I started on a Carter Starter also. Never had a problem with it staying put, tuning wise. Getting it in tune, and playing in tune was another issue. I found I had to use the Carter Starter string sets for it which include a wound 6th string. Using a plain string there just didn't work for me. You mi...

You might want to check out the little Guyatone ST2. Very simple (2 knobs) and has a direct switch which passes the uncompressed signal in addition to the compressed signal when engaged. If I use it for steel or guitar, I turn the sustain all the way off, then set the gain to match the volume for on...

Jack, Since he is getting authorization errors, it sounds like the files he's trying to burn are M4P (protected) files. He would need to use Itunes to burn those, unless he wants to find a conversion program which can have mixed results. Once burnt, they can be ripped and copied as MP3 or whatever u...

George,
Try downloading and installing the new version of Itunes.

Chip,
You might want to try revo uninstaller.
Removes basically all traces of a program, even if the uninstaller doesn't work. If it's listed in add/remove, revo can remove it.
The free version should do nicely.

For the last couple months I've been trying something new, and so far I'm loving it. I use both NV400 inputs. I use one of the Hilton pedal outputs into the NV400 direct, no amp reverb. The other output through a Planet Waves strobe tuner, then RV3 into the other amp input, mix in the RV3 to taste. ...

Can't believe I found these - Bob Shaffer w/ Saddle Pals
This was a pro group my Dad played in, in 1951, he’s playing lead guitar. There were I believe 15 of these half hour shows recorded in one week in 1951, were played on the air for 3 months in 1953 in Chicago, New York, etc. WARNING, these are very old, and much of the clips pretty hokey to today’s s...

Richard, Did you use msconfig to disable the items? If so, that could be whats causing the popup. Msconfig wants to tell you you disabled some start items after you reboot, but Vista's UAC won't let that msconfig notification run, so you get the popup over and over again. Look at the blocked program...

I use the Boss RV3 - agree it colors the tone of the amp somewhat. I wonder if anyone else is doing what I do.. With my Nashville 400, or LA400, I run two cables from the Hilton pedal to the amp, one direct to one of the inputs, no amp reverb. The other cable goes through the RV3 to the other amp in...

Another way would be to right-click on 'computer', choose 'manage'. Once in the management tool, choose 'disk management'. There you can remove the FAT32 partition, recreate it and format with NTFS from that screen. Since the drive has had data on it previously, use regular format, not 'quick'. I do...

Ed, You need to disable the floppy disk controller (FDC). Look for a section on Integrated Devices, find the FDC and set to disable. Check the clock settings also, make sure it's correct. I'm pretty much a beginner too. The first year or so I played a lot, was using a Dunlop bar. I have 3 or them now, none usable due to scratches and noise on the strings. Free online lessons breaking copyright laws?
I just saw this article, thought I should post a FYI note to the forum. (hope this is the right place for it) Seems the RIAA shut these guys down on Youtube, they claim a free guitar lesson that teaches any part of a copyrighted song is a violation. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story...

Jim, It doesn't seem like a very good deal to me. It has a 3 month warranty, an AMD 2.0 GB processor, and a EIDE hard drive at the older 7500 rpm speed. Don't want to get into this really, because opinions vary, but I don't care for AMD processors. They are usually used either as a cheap replacement...
