I think he's a great player, I just wish he had better songs. In my experience, the late night talk shows sound vastly different broadcast than when you play them. I think they have to mix for the airwaves. CH

Jim- I saw him at willie's picnic, and no steel. Helluva band, though. The songs were pretty weak, I thought, films were much better.

Hey Ed, that may have been a bit harsh on my part. My main complaint was that the guitar was late, and I had to do a tour without it. It made me look bad, and that's no good in this business. Sorry to sound like a jerk. Get somebody to help you so you can follow up on your delivery times. Sorry agai...

That's awesome, Emmett. It's the style I really want to learn. Do you usually play/harmonize the horn parts, or do you ever try the violin parts? I've played "ring of fire" a bunch on steel, and those simple lines are such a joy to play. I might be in spain Novemberish with Preston School ...

Mariachi steel?

Other than good ole Paul Neihaus with Calexico, does anyone else play steel in the genre, and is it done traditionally? Seems to me the two sounds are a natural fit. CH

Thanks Mike,
Now I have a Pro 1, so no excuses any more. You wouldn't want to play a Zum in that ramshackle outfit anyhow.

Hey Bob,
The Hem stuff sounds great. I got a copy of the Doodars record from Justin A., and man, that is some wicked playing you are doing on there. The steel sounds great juxtaposed against those salsa beats and every thing else. Helluva sound. CH

Lambchop is not only a great band, but super sweet fellas, taboot. I learned to play steel on tour and Paul helped me out in Europe every time I saw him. He also plays with Calexico, a superb outfit out of Tuscon, as well as on John Stirratt's (Wilco) project The Autumn Defense. Can't say enough nic...
