Tuner Upgrade

Good morning, I recently go a Recording King RG35-SN and I love it! Got it strung up for open D. I'm not loving the tuners and am looking to upgrade to locking tuners. Does anyone know the size I should order (I contacted the company and am waiting) and or a set that would just drop right in? Thanks...

Gig Bag

Looking for a soft padded case for a new steel. Pulled the trigger on a Recording King RG 35 SN with the humbucker. Very stoked to get it on Thursday.

The length is 33.75" Looking at ukulele bags and they're all too short. Thought maybe somebody would have an idea.

Thanks in advance!

So very helpful! Thank you so much for that! It's definitely on my list of things to learn (among so many other things!)...hopefully one day I'll be able to retire and focus on my passions the right way. For now, I get by working, playing shows, and raising my family. All good things in all good time!

Awesome! I'm going to have to upgrade the nut permanently like you did there.

Did you swap out the screws - yours look flush - mine are beveled. The are uncomfortable so I'm going to swap them out.

I'm not that handy with soldering so for now the pickup will do me good!

Rock on!

Re: Bumhucker for a lap steel

Cheap lap steel with some mods added, mainly new electronics and a humbucking pickup I made using a pair of Strat flatware bobbins. Quiet as a church mouse and has a pleasing steel guitar tone with the bobbins wired in series but I'll try them in parallel for a bit more treble. The original pickup ...

Thanks for that information! I think it'll be worth doing the switch next string change. Appreciate it! Just want to jump on here an ask a question, hope that's alright. I got the Rogue and a new longer scale neck from Amazon (no name brand) Should I use the longer scale for D tuning and the shorter...

Just want to jump on here an ask a question, hope that's alright. I got the Rogue and a new longer scale neck from Amazon (no name brand) Should I use the longer scale for D tuning and the shorter scale for C6? I now have them reversed with the shorter scale tuned to D and the longer C6. Thanks in a...

Just a heads up to everyone that the Steel I got off of Amazon had some issues. I got it on Friday and it was sent with a nut so low that it was unplayable. I had a nut extender that I had purchased and modified it to work. Everything else about it worked nicely: decent pickup, good looks, and right...

Just picked up the 20 L Zookies...a little tight but the angled tip is quite nice for surgeon like precision. I recommend! Going to try the pro pick. So are we pro angled or not?

I am likely too late with this post, but I do want to go on record with my praise for Lessons with Troy. I switched to dobro and lap steel at the beginning of the pandemic, after many years on guitar. I continue to use Troy's site daily, sometimes buying individual lessons and other times purchasin...

I might re-drill the holes and straighten her out. In hindsight I should have used a level and lined them up evenly. But, it's working out nice! I also picked up another cheap steel on Amazon for a steal with gift cards I got for the holdiays. $22 bucks out of pocket: https://bb.steelguitarforum.com...

Thanks Lloyd! I'm hoping to finish it this weekend. My wife and I have a just turned one year old that has so much energy that it's tough to find some quiet time. Hopefully he naps over the weekend!

Really looking forward to playing it! I'll definitely post some photos!

Have a great weekend all!

You're more than welcome. I'm on a couple of lap steel groups on Facebook, if it's okay I can spread the word. Lots of folks have gotten the Rogue for the holidays and are looking for direction. I like this project and am hoping for a great outcome!

Lessons with Troy

I see that he has a website with lessons on various tunings. I was wondering if anyone has any experience using that site? I was ...

Thanks again and have fun in PR. I have a bunch of music friends in Rincon.

Re: placement

We do include in the instruction description the Kit Requires Effort and Ingenuity. That was VERY freeing. No need to add anything to the back end. I found it helpful to just put the fretboard on and take measurements from that. If i was to do it again I wouldn't have used matchsticks to fill the s...
