I didn't hear anything out of tempo. That was right in the pocket, beautifully done and well thought out. You should go into the music business. R.

A funny but unrelated note...

I got invited to a jazz/ bebop jam tomorrow and they are under the false assumption that I play armpit guitar. 😄 This has never happened before.

Very nice, Rich! Great tone and very fluid playing. I love the diminished runs and your phrasing... the way you leave space between the riffs. That holds the listeners' attention more than a constant cluster of notes. Well done. Thanks Doug. My mind has started to think ahead. Like instead of think...

Sounds great Rich. Thanks Mike. I'm tickled you listen to it. Of course man! You have chops to die for. I don't think I have great chops but I'm flattered you think so. I feel that way about you. That Sleelonous record you made was freaking epic!!!!!! Everyone out to have in in their record collect...

Volume pot bad ground

Hey gang, Looks like I'm going to have to open up my Fender String master. There is an open associated with the volume pot. I figured I may as well replace it since it's scratchy anyway and the tone pot as well whilst I got it tore down. Can I get a recommendation as to exactly what to use as a repl...

I don't think you missed a beat Rich. Watching and listening to a lot of great C6 pedal steel players, it seems to me that most don't really use pedals so much for fast single note stuff. Pedals just get in the way and seem to be more useful for chord solos and comping. E9 Is a whole different stor...

I thought the first half was some of the best playing I've heard you do. The self editing, creation of melodic lines, and phrasing was a breakthrough. Maybe pedal steel was what you needed to break out on straight steel. Good thing you didn't sell the D8 Thanks Bill. The PSG has been a great additi...

I used to sneak into the bar hear this guy play when I was 13 years old at a bar called The Stine House in New York Mills. There were a couple other guys too. Johnny Dugan and Andy Emmert. Andy played the C6 all the time on an MSA. He was terrific! Played in the styles of Joaquin Murphy and Speedy W...

Back to my lap steel again...

Hey gang, I broke my left wrist about a month ago and after it started to heal and clear my mind of the heavy pain meds I began setting down at my guitar again and when I did, I had to take it slow and easy. When I took everything slower I was able to think deeply about what I'm doing. A house clean...

Herb Remington played Hawaiian music and style on pedal steel using the A6 tuning......he also would engage pedals to change tunings as opposed to bending notes......his style of playing pedal steel was a hybrid...... "Hybrid" is a pretty good way of describing what I seem to be ending up...

Here's the recording that really got me thinking about this whole topic. I was blown away by this and showed it to a friend who told me he thought it sounded like non-pedal steel. I was like dang, it either has to be pedal steel or else super advanced bleep beyond my non-pedal comprehension. It wasn...

Hawaiian style on PSG

Hi gang, Since I took up the pedal steel a few months ago I haven't had much to post, at least not on here. When I was playing lap steel I had some interesting things going on, but when I went to pedals, I dropped back to being quite below mediocre. Compared to all the great pedal pushers in the wor...
