The short scale of the Byrdland leads to the noticeably shorter pickguard, also.

Wow!! Did anyone catch the fact that not only is that a left hand steel, but the strings are in reverse order. Smaller strings are closer to player, bigger strings further away from player! Guess it's the same person playing the strat, and carried that upside down method over to his steel. Makes my ...

I really like the steel outro on his version of "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head", much like the horn on B.J. Thomas'
version.

I have a Williams D-10 that I bought maybe 20 years ago, a 400 series. I've never had a problem with it, and I play either it or my Zum pretty much every day. I decided to check under the guitar after seeing this post. All seven knee levers are as solid and secure as they were the day I took delivery.

I used to play 3 nights/week at a local motel lounge. The designated spot on stage for my steel after everyone else had staked out their territory was directly under the heat/AC duct, so whenever either came on, my tuning would go bonkers. This was before the days of the small tuners everybody has t...

I have heard it means "new gear day" and is thus applicable to guitars, amps, guns, golf clubs, boating accessories, or whatever.

You might even go the opposite route and try a
.010 for the third string. Worth a try if you are reluctant to tune down.

I saw Herby play a Sierra several times, before the Mullen days. Odd thing, though, one day I was at his shop in Sevierville and asked him about earlier times when he was playing a Sierra. He denied having done so, so I didn't mention it anymore.

J.R., if you look at the pic, you will notice there are no knee levers. Later in the day, the fake guitar was placed on display, in halves, to show a real guitar had not been destroyed. I guess you could say that no "living" steel guitars were harmed, in order to avoid the wrath of PETPSG :D

Bobby and Jeff got into a staged battle of egos, and Jeff took his guitar and walked off the stage. In a couple of minutes, he returned carrying his steel, at which time Bobby cranked up the Stihl and went to work. The Kline at that point was a mockup, not the real thing, and of course the whole thi...

I tried mine in the pre-EQ effects loop in a couple of Peavey amps, and that quieted the hiss considerably, while still producing the desired effect the unit was intended for.

GREAT online radio

KEQX is the best online country radio I have ever found.
Definite Texas flavor, artists like Flores, Hooker, and LOTS of Ray Price. Copious amounts of steel and fiddle, almost continuous music with very little interruption.
