I bought my first pedal steel, a Justice, about 6 months ago. Ron was great to work with. I think that for the reasonable price, it's a good guitar.

Is this your first pedal steel? Are you aware of Cabinet Drop?

What Steel are you playing and how old is it ? :?: It's a brand new Justice S10 Emmons setup. I got it 6 months ago. To answer the question as to whether it's been happening for a while or if it just started, it's hard to say. I'm a newb who's only been playing for 6 months so I've had my struggles...

Having pitch issues with OTHER strings when pushing pedals

I've noticed recently that when I push down my A pedal while playing an open 3 or 6 string, it drops the pitch of the both strings considerably. The reverse happens when I push the B pedal (strings 5 and 10 flatten considerably). This is obviously making it difficult, if not impossible, to sound lik...

Hi Matt, This answer may be simplistic, but had not been mentioned. When you wear the picks, they cover the finger tip, not the finger nail. I don't know if you are wearing them wrong, or not, but wearing them correctly speeds things up, plus all the other issues brought up. Full speed ahead....Eng...

Finger Picks - how necessary are they?

I know most, if not all of you are going to tell me they are essential and you of course know more than I do (I only began playing earlier this year) but what is the downfall of not using them? I know of and have seen players who do double duty live, switching between guitar and pedal steel and don'...

Fessenden Steel Guitars has a 2 pedal beginner model for under $700. https://www.fessendensteelguitars.com/guitars.html Interesting but it is 6 strings. Purely on paper the justice comes with a lever and 10 strings and potential to upgrade to a 3x4. That has to be worth $295 It is, but it's worth c...

Re: Bl 705

When I had distortion problems with my 705, I was able to fix it by lowering the pickup a little but. I’d also really recommend picking up a volume pedal, even as a beginner. Never too early to start working on VP technique, and it might help with this problem as well. Yes, lowering the pickup is w...

To me it sounds like a grounding issue. Check the ground on the pick-up and check the nut on the jack. See if it's tight. Actually maybe loosen it a little and tighten it back up. If it was a grounding issue, wouldn't I hear the same distortion when playing a single string/note? It only happens whe...

I'm a newb. Not ready for a volume pedal yet. Still getting comfortable with the basics.

BL705 Pickup - experiencing distortion and buzzing.

Just picked up a new custom lefty pedal steel. It came with a BL705 pickup, which seems to get a lot of praise on this site but I am getting a significant amount of distortion/cracking coming through my amp when I pluck more than one string at a time (its particularly pronounced when combining strin...

Hi Matthew. Welcome to the lefty steel club! I have yet to own a Justice, but it should be a solid guitar. I highly recommend that you start with 3 pedals and 4 knee levers at a minimum. You will grow into using all of the levers for combinations you will want to get. My lefty Mullen G2 is the best...

Left Handed Pedal Steel

I've been in talks with Justice guitars about having them build me a lefty pedal steel but figured I'd check here first to see if anyone has a basic model for sale for a beginner like myself. Any leads/offers are appreciated.

I should also say that I have tried a friend's lap steel a couple times and I don't know....it just didn't feel 'right' (no pun intended!) to play it righty.

I appreciate the suggestion....however, I play a few instruments - guitar, ukulele, bass, drums...all left handed and feel the left handed consistency would enhance my playing the pedal steel lefty as well. I know there are advantage to playing righty pedal steel, as is the case of every instrument ...

I'm about to puchase a lefty from Justice. Advice?

I wanted to join this forum first and see if there are any fellow lefties out there (as I know there are from searching past posts) who have any advice for a beginner on the matter (are there any tuning/parts issues to being a lefty player?) or perhaps any leads on simple, cheaper models for sale. J...
