Have you tried jumping the “preamp out” to “power amp in” jacks in the back? I can try that tonight and I like the thought. According to the manual block diagram, that section is before the master gain. I might be missing something, though and I'll let you know if it works. Thanks! https://bb.steel...

Nashville 112 Master Gain

Hello all,

I have a Nashville 112 and have an issue with the master gain potentiometer not functioning. The volume can only be controlled on the amp by the preamp gain knob. The master gain knob has no effect on the volume.

Does anyone have any thought on what could cause this?

Thanks for the replies. I suppose the reason I thought this was the cause is that this is the first and only apparent damage I could find upon inspection. I imagined it's possible that the contact point doesn’t hit the exact same point each time and sometimes the leading edge of the set screw hits t...

Mullen HWP (non-G2) A Pedal Issue

I have a 2008 Mullen HWP. I’ve had it about 6 months and I play almost daily for about an hour. Yesterday I played the guitar and notice that the A pedal didn’t bottom out like the others when pressed. It had a sort of extra give which popped after the pedal was fully depressed. It was noisy and see...

Bolt-On Sound

I hear of the great tone of the "Bolt-On" guitars. Is there an example of a side-by-side recording of the difference between a Bolt-On and a non-Bolt-On guitar that demonstrates this difference? It would be interesting to hear something like that using the same amp, volume pedal, etc. reco...

PSG Strings

When I purchased a used D-10 Mullen HWP PRP-type guitar, It had old strings that sounded pretty good. They turned out to be D'Addario NYXL strings judging by the ball end colors (I think it was the PF Medium gauge but not sure). I changed strings to the GHS PSG strings sold on the forum store (GHS B...

William , I am pretty sure I used to own that guitar. If it is the same one....it has a polished pedal bar. It is an awesome playing and sounding guitar. Especially with the 705 Pup. Wow, that is cool. I bought this guitar on the forum from a man named Ricky Thompson. The guitar seems to play well ...

Re: Hwp

So here's the deal. The HWP model is just the Pre-RP with tone control, polished pedals and knees, and a special wound single coil pickup. How it came to be: The RP came out and we were going to discontinue the Pre-Rp. Herby loved that model and sound so much that we went ahead and kept making the ...

Good info, thanks. This particular guitar has the tone knob. It also has a single coil on the C6 and a rail humbucker on the e9. It also has 5 knee levers and s/n puts it at a 2006 according to that chart. So, I see posts about pre-RP Mullen. Is this essentially a pre-RP? I assume a pre-RP is signif...

Background History on the Mullen HWP Model

Hello, I have this recently acquired Mullen HWP D-10 shown below. It seems to be a fine guitar and I would like to know more about the background of this instrument. I have seen some posts from around 2006 where Mr. Wallace stated that there were many differences between this and the RP model, such ...

Yes. This has got me looking at why each pedal of the emmons c6 setup exists. The “tracker string” idea brought up seems to align with this. How can I make a maj9th, dominant 9, diminished 7, and minor 9th on each tracker string? Oh, on tracker string 7 position, p6 flats my third and p5 flats m...

You should be able to play I-M, VI7 or vi-m, iim or IIDom7, ii-m or IIIDom, IV-M and V-Dom, close off both Major-Trackers like going to the bath-room at night and back to bed. Okay, one takeaway from this, combined with the rest of your response, is: Based off my trackers (7th, 8th, 9th or imaginar...

I have looked into the course am considering it. To those who have taken or are taking the course: Do you find it necessary to have a pc setup next to your guitar? Do you need two screens: one for tab and one for the videos? Any thoughts on how the courses flow or measurable improvement in playing b...

C6 Neck Theory Questions

New guy here. Proud new owner of a HWP Mullen from the forum. I'm new to playing steel. I tried playing years ago but it didn't stick. I found a violin transcription of the "Little Rock Getaway" jazz tune with the chords listed as well. I just tried barreling through it and trying to figur...

Yes, sir. I was fortunate enough to get to play some gigs with him over the years. Everyone I have spoken with who has dealt with JD thinks very highly of him. There is an episode linked below where they play Little Rock Getaway (at time 25:15). If that isn't good music then I don't know what is. ht...

Oklahoma Swingin’ Country - RSU School of Country Music

In the Tulsa area, reruns of a TV program called Oklahoma Swingin’ Country will air from time to time. The premise was that the Rogers State College School of Country Music would put on live music from local bands and college faculty. The faculty included some great musicians. Can anyone provide s...
