Unique Pedal Bar Attachments
I now own the Marrs guitar pictured at the head of this post; it's a dream and Jon Light set it up really nice, before I got it. The pedal bar arrangement definitely adds to the stability of the guitar; the trick is lining up the legs into the holes just right, to slide them all the way down, smooth...

PSG Rhythm Instrument
Yup - with the band doing 40s-early 60s country, proto-rockabilly, and western swing, most of the above, especially #2. Little melodic things in line with #3 also. More on mid-to-fast tempo tunes, and this stuff has to be concise and out of the way. I tend to lay back a lot more on slower stuff - s...

MSA Parts
Funny you should post this; I'm trying to replace a broken piece from mine. It's really old; could be same vintage as yours. There is a site that has some parts for older MSAs,but I think ours predates what's on that site. Put a notice in "Wants to Buy"; one response said it looked like ol...

Parts BIn
Possible, but probably not, but it sure looks like carburetor parts/linkage on the older cars. Could very well be; I think this guitar is from when MSA was more a "regional" brand and hadn't quite gone national. I'm starting to think it's either a trip to the machine shop, or just sell it...

Who's Parts Bin Has Linkage/Bell Crank LIke This?
Hi, everybody. Trying to fix up an ancient MSA S10 I have; so old the tuning on the changer are screws at the end, not nylon screws in the cabinet. Talked to Jon Light about the part I need; he said hadn't seen anything like it, and to try the Forum. Trying to get the other knee lever working; it ca...

Open or Closed
Thanks, everybody. Gave me a lot of info.
And yeah, while a Dual Showman strikes me as an ideal PSG amp, I'm way past carting that kind of stuff around. The Boogie is heavy enough!

Amps/Speakers-Open or Closed Back?
As I'm generally new to PSG, and only been consistently playing steel guitar for about 3 years, I'm in the process of dialing in my tone and tweaking my electronics/amp rig to get there. I've noticed a lot of the top line PSG amps, such as Weber or Quilter, are closed back, though some Webers I've s...

Very Old Edwards Pedal
I know there's been some posts before about these pedals, but mine seems older than others I've seen, and has an interesting story behind it: In the late 70s, I played in a band with Tiff Garcia, Jerry's older brother. At one point, rehearsal moved to Mickey Hart's "Rolling Thunder" barn, ...

Well, after sitting on a drum throne playing lap steel for about a year and a half, I was glad when I started using an old stand I had for it. But with my pedal steel, the same drum throne works pretty well. Granted, I'm only about a month into serious PSG playing, but I'm not feeling much strain on...

Buzzing High Strings
Hi, I'm working on an old MSA S10, closest to a Sidekick model. The higher strings-E, G#, D#, & F#-don't ring clean, and in bar positions higher on the neck, sound almost like a guitar with frets, "fretting out". It's a old style pull/release changer, and the top of the fingers that cur...

A Vintage MSA? And How Do I Tune Those Pedals?
Well, I thought I'd give an update. I've got the guitar in tune, pretty much, by way of the help I got, reading the threads on the site. It sounds pretty good, though there's a general issue of sustain on the higher strings, and I can't get a completely clean tone on the high G#,no matter where I pu...

A Vintage MSA? And How Do I Tune Those Pedals?
hey, everybody so far, thanks! The info about what the guitar is exactly makes some sense to me, especially if someone knows the knee levers aren't standard on early MSA's. I do wonder if it's possible, though, that this is an extremely early production, maybe before they became a national company? ...

A Vintage MSA? And How Do I Tune Those Pedals?
Hi, everybody,I'm new to the forum, and relatively new to the PSG. I've owned a Rickenbacher Bakelite lap steel for years, and just finished a 2+ year stint playing basically rockabilly with it. That not only improved my general technique on steel guitar, but got me ready to step up to the PSG. So I...
