I have a vintage MSA light beam volume pedal up for grabs. Seems to work ok but not to my liking. It has the pedal bar adapter. Accepting any fair offer.

PSG Seats by Steelers Choice
Today I became the proud owner of a seat made by Dan Rollans of "Steelers Choice". Let me tell you, it's a Cadillac! For years I sat on a seat that had the legs modified (literally the aluminum legs were cut and sawed off broomsticks put in to adjust the height)for someone taller than me. ...

Thanks for the suggestion Alan. I had already checked that possibility by trying it with several different cables. However, your reply did rouse my curiosity. I have been using George L cables and plugs exclusively for years. On your suggestion, I decided to test my cables using a digital multimeter...

Profex II
Funny this thread came up. I've got a problem with my Profex II that maybe someone has experienced. First let me reply to the thread. The flash card has nothing to do with it. I've used a Roland M-512E in mine for years without a problem. I've experienced battery failures which is the only reason I ...

Tone is in the hands
I had this very conversation with Jeff Newman several years ago. We exchanged thoughts on two players having the exact same equipment down to the finger picks and one player would invariably feel or sense the other player had the tone he was looking for. The only difference was the hands which coupl...

Yes Travis, weight is the dominating factor in my decision. But, equally as important is the flexibility offered with current technology such as triple-raise/triple-lower. My D-12 is single raise/single lower. I guess that's why Paul Franklin Sr. built it with 10 floor pedals and 6 knee levers. Heck...

Williams U-12 Owners
I have decided to move up to a U-12 and the Williams has caught my eye and interest. I know there are a half-dozen or so Williams U-12 owners out there and this post is primarily direct at you folks, although anyone with relavant input to my inquiry may certainly post. First of all, I am interested ...

National Lap Steel
I'm a PSG player and don't know anything about lap steels, but I saw this ad in a sale paper called The Coastal Trading Post in Florida and thought someone might be interested. The ad is for a National Lap Steel, approximately 60-years old. Blonde woodgrain with matching original amplifier, Roy Smek...

ShoBud Amplifier
I have a ShoBud amplifier that I've been restoring. It's the one with all the sliders, the power meter on the right side, and the treble boost switches. I'm nearly finished and have ran into a problem. Neither of the treble boost switches work. Looking at various copies of schematics that I have, on...

Denny: Looking at the underside of the guitar reminds me of the "Fuzzy" I just bought. It's the same design. Try sending the pictures to Mitsuo Fujii and let him take a guess. A lot of his early guitars fit your description. His address is: fujii_m@fuzzypsg.com
Good luck,
Carl

All: I have exchanged emails with Mitsuo on the Fuzzy guitar I have. According to him, it was built around 1970 and only about 30 of them were made. However, much to my dissapointment, he says he has no parts available for it. Two of the fingers in the changer had visible stress and cracks. Upon dis...

Donny hit the nail on the head. Lose the strings and springs and then check the freedom of movement. If there's friction, tear it down. Quite often, most users lubricate parts with one of those pen oilers. The trouble is, oil attracts dust and dirt and eventually gums up the works. Let it go for sev...

Fuzzy PSG
I recently purchased what I think may be an original "Fuzzy" PSG. All pieces and parts are stamped "Fuzzy". Upon a visit to the Fuzzy web site and reading Mitsuo's profile I am almost convinced. It is a single 12 set up for E9/B6. According to the profile, he started to design an...

FET's for ShoBud Amps
I've been working on an old ShoBud amp for months and through trial and error, finally got it up and running. The problem I had was trying to find replacements for the original SFC5865 FET's. I have several schematics that recommend a TIS 58 as a replacement. I couldn't find any so I opted for the N...

All: Let me share a lesson. About ten years ago, my water main broke in the front yard. I figured while I had the whole dang yard dug up, I'd just get rid of that old black-iron pipe and install PVC. My son and I finished the job in an afternoon and I even ended up with more water pressure. It only ...

I've never had any piece of gear function for any length of time with a carbon pot in it. I'm a firm believer in vintage wire-wound or non-inductive pots. Carbon is a great replacement for minimal use applications but won't stand up under the tests we put them to. My 1974 ShoBud volume pedal has onl...

Jerry: My amp also had all slides broken off flush with the face. However, I tried my idea about shortening the standoffs. It works beautifully. There's more than ample amount of slide coming through the face of the amp to add slide knobs. Now all I have to do is find some knobs that will fit the th...

Jerry: I've searched high and low without any luck, so far. I thought about shortening the standoffs that the mounting plate attaches to. That would allow the broken slides to protrude through the face of the amp, hopefully enough to get some knobs on them. If nothing else, they'd be accessible. r, ...

Thanks for the reply Bob. The B+ caps are 4000uf @ 60 V. I have found a few transistors (SFC5865, 7223A) that are bad. I still need to find a suitable cross for them. I believe they may correct the reverb problem and the lack of signal to the ammeter. I also found and corrected countless cold solder...
