Wade, is Palenscar teaching now by Skype? Great player and teacher, and he did all my tech work when I lived in Southern California. I'm doing the same thing, with an emphasis on getting music fundamentals in place, especially the Nashville number system way of thinking, and plenty of ear training,...

I would suggest getting a Mel Bay E9th Steel Guitar Chord Chart. b0b has them in the Forum Store. Click INSTRUCTIONS top of page and go to page 4. Shows all Major, Minor, 7th, Diminished and Augmented chords. This chart allows you to transpose your guitar and music knowledge right to the Steel Guit...

New Pedal Steel Player

Thanks to a lot of good advice on this forum I purchased a Derby SD10 from Jim Palenscar and it should arrive today. Jim really impressed me with his low key approach and willingness to talk about Pedal Steels I saw on the web. I've played Bass, guitar and keyboards for about 50 years, although bass...

Hi Wade, If you would prefer a new in the box Goodrich H120 with full warranty, I can sell you one for just a "little" more than $200 inc. shipping in the lower 48. There is nothing wrong with buying used, but so many times you have to put in a new pot/string and that adds $40-$50 to your...

Thanks. That's the way I was leaning, but thought I should get some expert advice.

Newbie Volume Pedal Question

I've done a lot of searching on volume pedals, but wound up more confused that when I started. I don't want to cheap out, but I don't want to break the bank either. I would appreciate any recommendations for a volume pedal for about $200, used is OK.

Thanks.

Wade, as a relatively new player, it will be difficult if not impossible for you to nail a bunch of songs dead on what was done originally. That is above my pay grade and probably above yours. If you are "into" country music, you probably KNOW most of the songs suggested. My 2 cents worth...

I've put together a playlist with these suggestions to have on while I'm working and just listening, try to get them into my head.

Thanks for the replies. I'm really looking for specific tunes. As a new steel player, I won't be able to work on 100 tunes at once, I'm really looking for help in prioritizing. Maybe the list is too long to narrow down; what do I know?? Maybe a better way to phrase my question is, "If you were ...

Must know pedal steel tunes for traditional country band

I did a search and found several threads about this, but nothing specific to this topic (that I found) and many were old, although I guess "traditional" country probably doesn't change drastically. I'm looking to get into play pedal steel and was wondering what a list of must-know tunes wo...
