I will be moving to Nacadoches, Texas next week. The band I currently work with will be needing someone, as I can only work an occasional saturday job. They are straight, no drinking or drugs, easy to work with. You can view their web site: theearlsandersjrband.com for their schedule, info, or maybe...

Had a great time! First time to play the E9/B6 in public. I had set the guitar up E9/B6 to sell it. I usually play B6/E9. I had put a for sale sticker on the top edge of the steel. Well, I was right in the middle of a ride when I missed the outside string, slammed the RKR to raise 4&8 (wrong!! i...

Hi Jody, Really enjoyed the jam after I got my gun unjammed. Proves I need to make all the jams I can. About the June meeting, will there be a jam, or will it be mostly swap meet/steel guitar garage sale? I feel if everyone is like me, I'll have plenty to bring. It should draw a lot of interest. I'm very satisfied with my Williams U12 with the Williams pick-up. I also have a MSA S12 that started with the original pick-up that I pulled out and installed a E-66. It helped but was still lacking (this is a laquer finish guitar, not mica) sooo, I had Mr Rudolph build me a pickup (single coil) th...

What do you play for warm-up before a gig?

Sometimes I get to a job early and would like to kinda get warmed up, but don't really know what to play. If they're playing country on the juke box, I usually play along with very low volumn. Otherwise, I'm about three or four songs into the first set before I feel comfortable. Any sugestion other ...

I'm confused, small amps?

Other than weight, why? I thought all amps came with a volumn control, most amps have a pre and post gain. I have a Vegas 400, Evans FET 200, a Bandit 112. I still like the sound I get praticing with a full sized amp. I just turn the knob called MASTER GAIN counter clockwise till the dogs quit howli...

Do NOT use gasoline or similar ? Some of the MSA's used a form of plastic/nylon washer, not teflon, and they will disolve, self-destruct, etc. ask me how I know. It now has brass spacers. That was one of those OH S---!! pieces of education. ------------------ "STEELIN' IN STYLE" Williams S...

I really enjoyed playing. Next time I'll be more prepared. I haven't played instrumentals "live" in years. Bands just don't play instrumentals anymore. (at least the bands I've worked with lately), and I enjoyed the everybody taking a solo in the same song. Wish it could have lasted longer...

I was wondering how may of you purchased a mica guitar that would have rather a laquer guitar, but objected to the extra $700 to $850 (Carters cost for example). I purchased the Williams as the price was the same for mica or laquer, and I always wanted to try laquer, as I love a beautiful wood finis...

Why C-6? An "ego" thing? or?

From this self-taught, untrained ear, why C-6. What do the session players use for their bread & butter? What top country songs use C-6? If you play E-9 and limited C-6, (I play B-6/E-9 S-12) is it worth the time and effort to learn C-6? What's it's advantage? IMHO it's a "mood" or &qu...

I played for years without the C pedal, using a vertical above the A&B pedals to make that 4th string pull to F#. Yes it works as the C pedal plus giving you some other neat licks. The past year or so I added the C pedal. I wont give up the vertical, but I find getting to the BC is easier than t...

I'm very pleased with it, its a laquer birdeye with 9 and 6, keyless, plus a locking B6 to E9 lever. I got it last friday, made a few minor lever angle adjustment, and played a job sunday. Got lots of compliments on how it looked from both the band and coustomers. It has a great sound also. I have t...
