I have not used the Quilter 202, but use the Milkman 100 and love it. The lack of a mid dial bugged me at first but I got over it after dialing it in with the two knobs. The simplicity of it is a plus for me. After getting it set how I like it, the only control I've touched in months is the "on...

To drop the pickup lower on my Justice, I had to grind off the sides of the baseplate. The Dremel worked great.

My 705 was blowing out my effects and tubes, hence the drop. I got it to be about 5 to 6 mm from the strings, and it now sounds great to me.

Need some Maverick changer fingers

Hi folks, I am in need of several fingers for a Sho-Bud Maverick (the ones that tend to break if you get too excited). The guitar is the beautiful one with the plastic covering, no raised neck. ...or if anyone knows of any that are machined of stronger material. I've already moved a few around from ...

Thanks guys. No handles on it yet. I'm not getting out much these days...and it's light enough to move across my living room without. Might put some on the sides so a top handle doesn't get in the way though.

My New Lightweight Setup

Wanted to share this as the choices were made with advice from this forum. It is a TRM pine cabinet, dyed and tru-oiled, with a Telonics TSNEO-15-4 15" speaker. I'm running a Milkman The Amp 100. It sounds GREAT, and is less than half the weight of my Steel King. Thanks to the many posters who'...

Does Seattle need a PSG repair shop and location where people can just sit down at an instrument? Yes, Patrick, please do so. I grew up in Seattle, and have faced the same obstacles. The accessibility of the instrument is a huge factor in keeping it alive. I've wanted to play for 20 years, but coul...

I'm don't have experience with tons of amps, but I recently got the Milkman The Amp 100 and am extremely happy with it. It is also a tube preamp to class D, through not sure how similar to the Half and Half in tone. I also play six string through it and am equally happy with that. Tim at Milkman als...

I am a relatively new player in my 30s. BJS, who made the tone bar I use, has been around since 1975. Goodrich, who made my VP, have been doing so since 1965. Many other companies in this niche market have shown longevity already, and passed through the demise of the pedal steel's dominance in popul...

Update: I switched the tube to a Groove Tubes 12AY7, it gave me even more clean room. With a six string though it doesn't break up much unless you use the FET boost. Probably not necessary after lowering the pickup mostly fixed it, but it does give me more wiggle room with my volume pedal, with an o...

Aren, the weird backwards background sounds you mentioned sound exactly like what I have been experiencing when using an overdrive pedal. I was messing around with a couple of overdrive pedals playing E9 on a D10 Zum with E66's on it. When I set them to have a fair amount of distortion on either of...

Thanks all for the replies and advice. I was able to use a Dremel grinder to take off the baseplate edges such that the pickup could lower to the changer arms, got about 4mm additional space from the strings and this solved the problem! The Amp sounds great, no breakup unless I want it. I appreciate...

I screwed my 705 way down and use short jack cables. Tested on a Telonics 4 ohm and on 2x12 Eminence Red Fang Alnico's running at 8 ohm. The Alnico's where a little more tight in the low end than the telonics but both combinations sounded absolutely incredible. Also an amazing amp for Telecaster gu...

Update: In my excitement over fancy new gear I forgot I have a Maverick in my closet to try; it stays clean all the way up on The Amp...and sounds awesome. Got to be my red hot 705 in the Justice.

Thanks all again. Pretty sure as Tim says it is the pickup and its proximity to the strings; getting it as low as it will go (still not very low) helps, I'll see what I can do to with the baseplate to get it lower. If not... Tim, what Telonics pickup are you running? Was perusing their site...lots o...

Thank you all for the great advice. The 705 came stock in the guitar. A search yields some good old threads: https://steelguitarforum.com/Forum11/HTML/007554.html I'll see what the 12AY7 does in a couple days, and what I can do to drop the pickup further if need be, and will let you know how it works.

Yup I did, and he has indeed been very responsive and helpful. I did get my pickup down a bit and it helped some.

Trying to get clean, Milkman The Amp 100

Hi Folks, Thanks in advance for your help. I just got a Milkman The Amp 100, and cannot get a clean tone out of it, and get weird backwards background sounds when I slide or bend more than one string. I am using manufacturer's settings for clean (master all the way up, volume well below 9 o'clock). ...

New JUSTICE

Hi Folks, Long time lurker on the forum, first time posting. Just want to share some photos of my new Justice, 4x5 Emmons setup Pro Lite. The only other guitar I’ve played is an old Maverick, so I obviously just came up big. As many of you have stated before about Justice, the guitar is beautiful,...
