copedent

Since I am having difficulty posting the copedent, here is a brief description.

The E9 neck has the Emmons setup for pedals A, B, and C. The left knees raise and lower the Es (the LKR provides the lowering).

The C6 neck has the D for the first string (obviously, you could change this).

Justin said: Looks great! Original pickups too, right? Do they need re-winding? Justin, thanks for the feedback and your interest. I don't know much about the pickups, but I bought it here on the Forum from the original owner and there was no mention of replacing the pickups. In my opinion (and of c...

Tab Rack

Definitely contact Tommy Bradshaw about his Tab Rack. It attaches securely to the legs, spans the entire length of your steel, and holds your music where you can read it. It comes on and off easily and requires no alterations to your steel. I have one and love it. Furthermore, Tom is a great guy to ...

Why I want to learn slants

This is a reply to Ian: I want to use slants, first, because I have a tab book from Jim Loesberg that shows one example and for which I saw no clear substitution, and second, because I thought slants might be useful in other contexts. Maybe they won't be as useful as I hope, but I'd like to find out...

Another lighter guitar

Bob, In an announcement a few entries ahead of yours, Fuzzy (Mitsui, Excel brand) is offering an E9 that weighs about 22 lbs called the Robostar. I've go a U12 Excel Exstar and it is relatively light and a beautiful instrument that produces a beautiful tone, so I would feel confident ordering one. A...

Elbows and bar grips on a slant?

I'm a 4-year player working on some PSG slants. When you slant forward (low strings at a higher fret than high strings), do you place your left elbow way out to the left? And do you change how you hold the bar or keep it the same? I haven't tried slanting the other way, but I have similar questions ...

Me too!

Yes, indeed. I would love to do that (especially the RKR), too, and from what I've been able to learn, it would be a major project. I'm hoping one of our forumites can find a solution!

All very interesting. So far, I'm using half stops on my A pedal and my RKR pedal (and rarely a vertical pedal). I'm curious to see what you all come up with.

10 string. And are you thinking of making a C6 pedal steel without the E9 neck? Has that ever been done?

Good Houston Honky-tonks?

I'm going to be traveling to Houston for a couple of days in late January, and I wondered if anyone can recommend a bar, concert venue, club, or honky-tonk that features country music (preferably the older stuff) and/or a steel player? Thanks!

Sho-Bud Custom Pro II 8X4 with Red Dirt Case, $3350

This is a 1977 model, serial number 12100, in outstanding physical condition and unchanged since being built. I have recently had it professionally serviced (lubed and some springs changed around for more even action) and it sounds beautiful. The finish still gleams, and the only finish flaws I can ...

A 1977 Sho-Bud D-10 Custom Pro II 8X4, serial number 12100, in outstanding condition. Recently professionally serviced. Sounds beautiful.
