Thanks for the tips! Will definitely check out Fanny's. From their website, they seem to have quite a few lap steels. I'll also keep that info about Carter's in mind when I'm there.

Lap Steel Shopping in Nashville

I’m going to be in Nashville for a few days in May and was thinking of doing some lap steel shopping. I plan to stop by Gruhn’s, Carter’s and Rumble Seat, but in perusing their websites, none of them seem to have much by way of lap steels in stock. Is there any place in Nashville that carries a good...

Funny... I just started trying to learn this one over the weekend! I got the first two bars, then get completely lost. Not sure what position I'm even supposed to be in. Granted, I'm a rank beginner, but damn! I love Kim Deschamps' playing... especially his Blue Rodeo stuff and his work with Cowboy ...

Rickenbacker 208 Console Steel

I believe this dates to the late 50's. Two 8 string necks. Some play wear... a few scratches here and there and what looks like a cigarette burn near the tuners. Fretboard coming up a bit on one of the necks on the bridge end. Doesn't affect playability, though. I should probably just glue that, tho...

Still no reviews of The Amp 100 for Steel? I saw the video Of Alex with direct out, but would be interested in peoples thought and comparisons to other amps. I'm probably the worst guy to post a review because I'm a beginner at steel and have very little to compare it to. To this point, I've been p...

I'm very new at this, but had been trying to learn pedal steel for years using different methods. Inevitably, I ended up getting frustrated and then letting it sit for months and eventually trying some other method, with the cycle starting over again. I recently started Paul's "Foundations"...

You will have good results with the Jupiter ceramic speakers - but make sure you order them at either 16ohms and wire in parallel or 4 ohms and wire them in series. Thanks! But... ...just went to the Jupiter site to order a pair and shipping to Canada costs more than the speakers themselves!! $220 ...

I'm planning on picking one up and have a nice Avatar 2x12" cab collecting dust that I'd like to use with it. Tim, I know you like the Jupiter speakers in a 2x12". I'm assuming a pair of 50 watt Jupiters would work well with The Amp 100? Any preference between AlNiCo and ceramic?
