Thanks Joe! It’s from the 90s track ‘When You’re Gone’. It was a collaboration with Mel C.

Bryan Adams - Guitar Solo

Hi all,

Haven’t posted in a while so thought I’d share a little clip from my Instagram. I worked out a 6-string solo for steel and cranked up the drive for something a bit different!

Hi Larry! Indeed if I hold the lower against the stop whilst activating the lever, there is no noise. Another thing I’ve noticed that a that the pull rod comes out of the changer at an awkward angle. Because of the rod’s position in the bell crank and changer, it comes out with a kind of upwards...

Thanks Donny. I’ve had another look today and this is what it looks like is happening:- When the raise is engaged, friction in the changer/ scissor sometimes causes the lower to pull a little too. The return springs then snaps the lower back to its stop, leaving the raise engaged of course. It is ...

Clicking in the changer?

Hi everybody, Wondering if someone can help me.. Sometimes the RKL on my Magnum makes a loud clicking/ creaking sound when I’m engaging it. It doesn’t do it every time - I’d say 50/50. I’ve had a look underneath and it appears to be one of the return springs creating the noise - the spring l...

I spoke with George Ls today and they told me that the difference between the PF1 and the TW is that the TW has a stainless steel blade, whereas the PF1 has an iron blade. So, I guess a chart would look like this... starting with the warmest...

George L pickup comparisons

Hi guys, Could anybody chart out the George Ls, bright to dark? I’m pretty sure the E-66 sits at the top, and the PFII at the bottom. However, I’m wondering more about:- 1. Where the EON sits. Ohms identical to E-66 but I’ve heard it’s far darker due to the blade. 2. TW v PFI. Again, same oh...

Please let me know how you get on when you manage to tackle it Larry! I don’t even know where on the neck a ground wire/ lug could go on my magnum - indeed I can’t even see how the neck is attached!

Also, I have just tabbed out what I played on this track - if anybody is interested in having a go at it, feel free to send me your email address and you can have the PDF :) and just to confirm, the tab would be free :)

Lloyd Green’s ‘Sweet Cheeks’

Hi guys, Last summer I was involved in a guitar-based cover of Lloyd Green’s instrumental, ‘Sweet Cheeks’. You’ll hear that the main part of the song is covered by a b-bender tele played by a great young guitar player here in the U.K. called Chris Larcombe. There is some pedal steel too - he...

Similar to mine really Larry! I have a D10 Magnum and the necks aren’t grounded. I used my multimeter on them but the necks are powder coated which interfered with my probe. But I scratched a little bit of the coating off on the corner of the neck, but still, no ground continuity found. The necks ...

Hi Larry!

Is it just your aluminium neck that isn’t grounded on your Derby mate, or all the metal work?

Where/ how are your necks grounded??

Hi everybody, Just wondering where your aluminium necks are grounded? Some may have a separate ground lug attached to a neck bolt etc, whereas others may rely on the neck’s bare contact with another piece of metal that is itself grounded. This could perhaps be the roller nut, which may be grounded...

BL705... noise?

Hi everyone!

Could somebody with a BL705, turn their amp up pretty loud, and then put two fingers on their pickup cover. Does it hum?

I would assume not. Yet mine does! I thought it would be a grounding issue, but my multimeter shows continuity between the blades and the jack ground.

Nightmare!

Pickup Mounting and Height

Hi guys, Just got a wide mount BL705, but looks like it’s a little long. Is it ok to just file the plate down a bit lengthways, and what type of tool is best to do it with? Also, any ideas in terms of the best pickup height (by that I mean the distance between the pickup and strings) for a 705? Th...

Thanks so much David and John for your input!

I’m excited to try the 705s, I just want a bit more beef in the tone, but to keep some growl. I may swap them back out at some point but worth a try for sure!
