Goodrich rocks

I just wanted to give a shout-out to the folks at Goodrich for their exceptional customer service. I recently needed a volume pedal in a hurry, and wanted a model they didn't have in stock. Instead, they sent me the new Omni pedal at the same price, and overnight to boot. I don't think they made any...

re: lloyd Green "Revisited" CD -- where can I buy?

Someone had one copy to sell.
I looked at most of the popular sites linked to the forum and couldn't find it, and nothing came up on Amazon or iTunes.
Good luck.

John Widgren -- tech and teaching

Allow me to add my $.02 on this subject -- anyone needing PSG tech work in the New England area would be well advised to contact John. He is highly knowledgeable, conscientious and helpful, and a real gentleman to boot. If you are lucky enough to take a lesson from him he will show you some great st...

Hank's Saloon this Friday

The new lineup of my country band, now called the Lonesome Billys, will be holding forth in Brooklyn this Friday Nov. 4. We have a new singer and a fresh batch of classic tunes, with some real good harmonies. Come up and introduce yourself if you're there.

Thanks for the tip, Pete. I will get it asap. I have only one other album of his, Couples in Trouble, which didn't slay me, but I have a feeling it's a bit different than the others. This one sounds like a winner for sure. Btw, I had the pleasure of meeting your brother Steve, who has been coming to...

A little of both. There is something to be said for composing a solo that suits the song perfectly, and that hopefully contains some technical challenges so you don't get bored and actually push yourself to execute it properly. But you have to be able to jump in and just play too, and since a lot of...

When I decided to move up to two necks I wanted to get away from the rigors of P/P technology, but I didn't have much experience with other guitars, and the feel of all-pulls was quite different than what I was used to, so it was hard to tell which I would like in the long run. I'm 6'2" and som...

I played this song last Friday at a gig in NYC.
This must be "altered perception country"... the lyrics veer toward psychedelic cliche but never succumb. A great tune.

I love to practice, and although I totally agree that gigging is the best way to get good, I don't see the upside of not practicing at all, no matter how often you play out. At some point it seems to me you need to introduce new ideas, new tunes, things that are too complicated to work out on the fl...

I have been figuring out a bunch of Emmons things lately (armed with the Amazing Slow Downer, of course) and what strikes me the most is his incredible phrasing, which I think is the hardest part of anyone's style to copy. Emmons swings more than any other steel player, and breaking down his solos i...

When I was shopping for a double neck couple years back I called Emmons twice. Once, no answer, second time left a message, no reply.
Called up Bruce Zumsteg, he picks up the phone. Sold.

Well, I tilted it last night and it worked out better for everyone -- me, the rest of the band and the audience. Much easier to control my dynamics and hear my tone. In a small room especially I will continue to do so, and in rooms with low stages so I don't nail the folks in the front. On bigger st...

Do you tilt your amp?

Every stage is different, and I try to find the sweet spot, but don't always succeed.
I haven't been tilting my amp yet, but I may start soon. Just wondering what the rest of you do to hear yourselves clearly.

It goes from exhilaration to depression and back again. In my living room I am king, onstage that night a fool... Nothing wrong with comparing yourself to the best, though, even if you always come up short. Aim high, or forget it. As Larry Coryell once said, you gotta want to be the best on your blo...

'70s MSA 5&4 copedant?

This will seem funny, and I have resisted posting sooner so as not to revisit my less informed past, but back in the mid '70s I bought an MSA S10 with 5&4. With no one to show me anything and no clue how to find instruction I bailed after a few fruitless years. Now that I am playing for real, or...
