What makes it (Sibelius) the best available software (that I know of) for steel guitar? Firstly, you can create your own templates with however many strings you wish. Secondly, you can copy and paste from any stave or tab to any other stave or tab. That means you can put in notes and then paste the...

I use MuseScore . It is free open source software. It runs on a Mac or PC. It has been around for a while. It seems pretty stable. I use it for composing and creating tabs of transcriptions for dobro and lap steel. Like Carey, I wanted to write stuff down so I don't forget it. It is very capable. Th...

That's a really nice arrangement. In case it's of use to anybody, I tabbed it out: http://planetgaa.com/tab/My%20Sweet%20Lord.pdf I think the tab is pretty accurate. I compared it against the video. As usual it doesn't capture all of the subtleties of the slides, so play along with the video if you ...

Cumquat Records still around?

I tried to go to the Cumquat Records website but it looks like it is down:
http://www.cumquatrecords.com.au/

I know Bruce Clarke, the person behind it, passed away last year. Does anyone know if Cumquat Records is still around? If not, are there plans to revive it someday?

I caught them in Santa Cruz last night. It was a great show! They really know how to work a crowd (and I mean that in a good way). A lot of their music is very energetic and "pedal to the metal" but they also mix things up nicely. For example they did a slow, bluesy version of "I'll F...

Looking at the pictures it appears to be a roundneck instrument. I don't know if you're aware of that. If your plan is to play it lap style you might want to wait until you find a squareneck. Otherwise you'd need to use a nut extender.
