I think it was as simple as a bit of oil.

Is there a good source with pics to show what should be oiled?

Thanks for the response and help, Donny. Can you help me understand 'over tuned'? Does that mean the nylon hexnuts are too tight? Do I back them off and start over again?

Sorry for the ignorance.

Noob technical question

I am playing a Mullen RP sd-10. I have had a problem develop and am not sure how to approach it. String 8 - E RKR - lowers to D ok, returns back in tune RKL - raises to F. When released, the string does not come back down to an E. Ends up a very sharp E. When I lower back to D, comes back to E upon ...

This is such great advice - thanks. It's hard not to get frustrated but, in these times, what else am I going to do?

The PSG is the most under appreciated instrument on the planet, IMHO.

As a semi-professional banjo player, I totally understand that what separates the 'good' banjo player from the 'beginner' is the right hand technique. However, I also think that certain pieces of the electronics puzzle can help. I've put in reverb and delay along with the eq which helped immensely b...

Describe your setup

If this has been discussed ad nauseum, I apologize in advance. I searched the forum but didn't find anything quite like this request. I'm about 4 months into my learning journey and having a blast. I am doing all of my practicing through an Antelope interface into a set of headphones. Occasionally I...

As my first steel guitar conference ever, I was thoroughly impressed. The professionalism of the players, the superb band, the layout, format, etc. were all top notch.

Thanks to all of the organizers!

Hey Mark Epstein: 1) Are there guitars for sale? Is there a room/venue where people have stuff for sale? - yes, it's not a huge show, but lots of vendors show up, some with separate rooms, some with just tables, showing their stuff and I'm sure ready to sell. Telonics, Justice, Infinity, etc 2) Do ...

Having never been before, I have a couple of ignorance questions: 1) Are there guitars for sale? Is there a room/venue where people have stuff for sale? 2) Do attendees have a chance to participate playing in any learning environments? Are we expected to bring guitars with us for the training semina...

me, too

So, I'm 2 weeks into my journey of becoming a competent steeler. I'm finding the fact that I have played guitar for 53 years and banjo for 40 is both extremely helpful and hindering. Helpful in knowing music theory, chords, positions on the neck, etc. Hindering in the right hand. It is a new and dif...

Wow, what great information in these responses. Thanks so much.

Yeah, I get it that the hardest adjustment is going to be the right hand position.

Technique question

I am now 2 weeks into my journey of learning how to play. While I feel I will be able to make sense of this (eventually), I am struggling with one aspect of the right hand. Having come from mostly 5-string Scruggs style banjo (and some dobro and fingerpicking guitar), I have alway anchored my right ...

Need help choosing 1st steel

Hi, I am primarily a banjo, dobro and guitar player. I played psg in college on a Sho-bud Maverick but decided then to focus on banjo. That was a long time ago. I am interested in rekindling my interest in psg and want to purchase a used guitar. I am better off financially than I was then and want t...
