FS: Emmons D10 Pushpull Mahogony Satin Finish
Hello Everyone I am thinning the herd a bit as I have 3 D10s and Really not playing out any more. For your consideration is my 1972ish Push pull. All original except changed the Pickups to Bill Lawrence Hum Buckers. these are the ones that are designed to sound just like Truetone stock and sound gre...

Thanks David, Certainly an interesting topic as we don't really seem to have much info on the Wrights or Wright Sierra's Lee Jefferies knows a good bit and has owned a few. Here in Northern CA we have at least three Wright/Wright Sierra's being used actively. My Quad, Lee is using a D8 Wright Sierra...

Who knows a bit of the history around Wright quads and others. When did Wood Endplates come and go? When was the move from the aluminum to wood necks? Seems like early 60s Wrights, have different pickups more like the Wright Sierras. Perhaps I should go dig around in the Archives. But would be nice ...

I have a quad as well, this one has been around. Think Chas owned it for a while, i got it from Marty Smith in LA. Lee Jefferies had it for a long time. I'm told it originally belonged to Gene Selzer (sp?) who used it in the mid late 50s with Bob Wills. (unconfirmed). Here are some pics. http://bb.s...

Hey Dave, Great meeting you too.. What are the odds of two D10 ZBs the same color and about a year apart being in the bar on the same night.. pretty big odds I'm guessing! :) They were Matching down to the Hatton Split cases! You sounded great BTW. Wish I could play like that :) Sorry I had to bail ...

Yep that pack-a-seat has been around. I have been thinking of recovering it in tooled Leather. In an effort to get that western look. Just haven't gotten around to it... as they say. Here are a couple pictures I took of the steel Just after getting it from Bill G. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/user...

ZBers Here are some pictures of the Scranton D10 I've been restoring. Kevin Hatton Refinned it and I did the rest of the work. Used it with the band last night for the first time, and got all kinds of complements. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix/1887_Miscpics_013sized_1.jpg http://bb.steelgui...

Thanks Willis, I've got one of those old Fender Fuzz Wha pedals.. not really the right thing for Steel.. but darn cool if you are into acid Rock :) Think I'll stick with the reglar tone/volume fender pedal I'm using but I might add a Shotgun button to it and change the pot value to be something with...

Tim, You hit the nail on the head.. On the Fender Pedal! I had never looked inside it. Bought it on Ebay a few years ago, tried it once found that it wasn't working right so abandoned it as I was gigging a good bit and didn't have time to deal with it. It never dawned on me to open it up duh :). Whe...

Thanks Al, Nice playing! Don't think I've ever knowingly listened to an Electro Harp. Its got a cool tone. What was the tuning? what kind of changes were on the pedals? I heard a couple times where you were pulling strings up like a modern E9 would. I hear what you were mentioning about the Tone But...

Alvin, I'll have to try that 1 meg Audio pot! with my Wha Wha pedal, sounds like it would be a better solution. Tim, Didn't know Fender was reissuing the Volume/Tone pedal. I have an original which doesn't really do the trick. It tends to make the guitar always muddy sounding and kills the Gain. May...

Al, I'd love to hear it if you have it, if for no other reason than I love that 40-50s Hill Billy Jazz style Steel. Sounds like I'm missing more than just the tone pot. The technique is also something I need to work on. I suspect that pedal steel players don't play with as much vigor today because t...

I tried a few things today, went down to my local hardware store and bought a momentary door bell type button. I installed it in an old Wha Wha pedal that I had gutted and which is the basis for my experimentations. This works to simply roll off all the highs and cause the guitar to sound like mud. ...

Al, Is there a name for that kind of pot? Most pots are either Audio or Log, taper. I have both and had thought of making up a log arm bel crank to add to the cross rod on my Emmons. I could also spin up a smaller diameter bushing for the end of the pot so I get a very fast action between the long c...

Boo Wha Mod for Pedal steel?
Steelers, Maybe this has been covered before, couldn't find it in the archives. Has anyone ever built in a Boo-Wha tone circuit into a steel? I have tried to use those Fender and Bigsby combo volume/tone pedals a few times without great success. The side movement with a volume seems awkward to me. I...

I just got a set of custom made Hatton split cases from Kevin, which fit my 68 ZB D10 like a glove. The workmanship looks great and they are built to last! Thanks Kevin. As a side note, I didn't know that ZB steels from the Scranton years were not all the same size. I guess he made some variations s...

Thanks Duncan, Nice looking color Combo. I love burst type finishes. I wonder if ZB was doing any bursts in 68. I have only seen a couple Scranton Steels other than mine. Seems like they are all solid stain on the front, Red, Blue, Brown. etc. Maybe it would be better to ask the question. Does chang...

What are some color combos that came on early ZBs. I'm about ready to strip down my 68 ZB D10 and prep it for Refinish. Its had a hard life and most of the finish has already come off. If it was only an old Tele . :) What are some of the color options that ZB did pre 69. Mine was brown with natural ...
