I have used an Android app called Fretboard Learn to learn all the notes on the fingerboard. It can be set up for any instrument - it makes it into a game that you can play anytime you have a few minutes.

I was surprised to see she uses a TubeScreamer. I have heard on here several times that that has too much mids for steel. Obviously work for her though

I have the same thing. Between swallowing the mic and adding a preamp with a big boost after the mic, I have made it work but I'm going back to singing into a mic on a stand. I have always wondered if the condenser version had a substantially hotter output.

Does the Jerry Byrd course have CD's or cassettes?

I recently got a Melbert which I am very happy with. I am a complete newbie, so my opinion shouldn't count for much, but if you search the forum, you will see that Melbert is very well regarded.
