Stuck Leg adjustment

No idea how this happened, but the height adjustment on one of legs of my Rains won’t budge. I’ve tried 3&1 oil, I tried heating it by submerging it in hot water(covered in a rubber glove), I’ve used a plumbers type wrench on the textured adjustment ring, but couldn’t figure out how to securely ...

Thanks, Tucker, Jerry, and Jon! I tuned the comp out and the issue persisted, so I flipped it over and followed Tucker's suggestions. Using a plain guitar string, I think a bead of 3&1 oil made it down to the axle(is this the same as the rivet?) and the 5th string's return spring was moving, so ...

A new tuning issue

Here’s a new one on me. On my Mullen G2 SD10 (which has been very stable and pretty much issue free over the 10 years or so that I’ve had it) the 5th string (B) raises to C# flat when the A pedal is depressed slowly, but when pushing the pedal quickly it arrives all the way to pitch. String 10(i...

I used the Newman chart until about 5 years ago. Now I tune my Es with pedals down and tune out beats. I tune string 1 to string 5s 7th fret harmonic, and string 2s 5th fret harmonic to string 5s 4th fret harmonic. I tune string 7 to string 10s 7th fret harmonic. Once I’ve tuned the beats out of t...

I took the pad off of my Rains SD10 because I wanted to see if it would allow my right hand a better position and I’ve been happy with the results. There were things I’d played before on my JCH D10, that didn’t feel right with the pad. And without the pad it sounds maybe brighter, more resonan...

Thanks for all these replies. Right, Ian - I’m not interested in compensators to address cabinet drop, but rather, as you said, to tweak the 7th string so it sits better in the pedals down position. I decided last night to go with a 7th(and maybe 1st) string comp from the A pedal only. One reason ...

Compensators

I know there are past posts on compensators, but I did a search and couldn’t find what I was looking for. I’ve been getting into Paul Franklin’s E9 Pedal Steel Vocabulary, which is great, of course, and realized he uses compensators on his 1st and 7th strings. Now I see his guitar is loaded wi...

I too, have a Tonealigner in my Rains and it sounds really good. A good thing about Tonealigners, is you can adjust the pole pieces and really get them balanced. Nice to get the third string up a little.

Jerry, I just did, thanks! I also heard from Tom Spaulding, of D'Addario, who said he'll take care of me when customer service re-opens. I went ahead and opened the second set, and just as I'd suspected, strings 8 & 9 were missing.

Mike, were you able to get it replaced? I tried emailing them, but in the place where they tell you to provide a copy of your receipt, I pasted the copy of my order from SteelGuitarShopper.com, and kept getting a “field required” message, as if I’d left it empty. So I called this morning and i...

Incomplete NYXL C6 set

Looks like I'm missing strings 8 & 9. I bought 2 sets last year, probably here on the forum. This is the first one I've opened. I kinda don't want to open the next one, since it's likely to be years before I change the C6 neck again. Has anyone else had this experience? https://bb.steelguitarfor...
