I love that the melody is always clear and pretty much a line - a scale...simple enough and pretty.
But then under that is this crazy swerving scale harmony that defies the laws of gravity.

Ok, being primarily a piano player and steel player second, (or third or fourth 🤣) I need to speak up for my peeps! When playing with female singers you start adding flats, F, Bb, Eb are ok, beyond that I’m going to get coffee. Some piano players grew up playing in church. A bunch of hymns are in t...

That franklin has the beefiest stops i have ever seen, i like those very much indeed...the thinner ones like sho-bud work great too but i have had a couple slip off, because there is not much width and the bell crank rod has side to side play that needs to be taken out, it is possible for them to l...

It's not entirely clear in your description, but it sounds like what you're saying is that there is both a raise and a lower rod for string 9 activated by the same lever. If this is the case, the raise rod is a "compensator". The idea with this type of setup is that you tune the lowering ...

Jamie, When you lower the half tone it has a rod at the 9th string lower. The whole tone is done in the normal location. The 9th string is tuned above the half tone lower. It should be marked on the half tone tuning nut for reference. Hope this helps The two rods interact in a mystifying way. The w...

Show Pro string 2

Show Pro The Lloyd Green Anybody know the actual method for tuning string 2 1/2 stop? A raise and a lower on string 9 - somehow they are supposed to create the semitone drop on 2... both the raise and the lower interact .... Lower has the pencil shading, but it's not clear what to do with these. Als...

Sounds like you're probably installing the rods backwards. The pedal rods are supposed to go between the front apron and the pedal crank, with the hook facing the rear. To install them it's necessary to angle the rod to insert the hook through the hole in the crank, so they can't fall out while you...

Sho Bud pedal rod hooks

I have a ‘74 Sho Bud rack and barrel, which sounds great and stays in tune for a few minutes here and there, LOL - actually good enough to gig with but constantly adjusting for lights, temperature, gusts of wind. But the Big Problem is the darned pedal rods have this tiny little hook that falls out ...

I wasn't trying to lecture you Jamie, I apologize if I offended you. I was just being defensive on behalf of Bill and Tim Rudolph. Your earlier post (the part I quoted) implied there was something wrong with the design and/or construction of your guitar, I was saying that, based on your description...

...a matter of convincing the designer from afar that something is off. No, something is not "off". Tuning slack and what you're looking for are two different things. What you want is stiffer pedal action, stiff enough to resist the weight of your foot. The Rudolphs build really fine, mod...

It's a 65 reissue Twin with a 15, IIRC. They later called it a Twin Custom 15. 700 is a fairly good price. I want 800 for mine (says Twin Reverb, the 15 was aftermarket) The input section is very different. The first tube in the Steel channel has cathode biasing and therefore local feedback unlike ...

I got the RKR going. The half-stop feel is absolutely perfect, very firm and crisp, as good as I've felt on any guitar ever. A photo would be good. Do you have a little slack on those pull rods with no pedal engaged? If not it's most likely just an over-tuning issue. Read the sticky at the top of this forum section for an explanation and solutions. You said "C Pedal cage", does this mean "rack" (as op...

74 Rod and Barrel... Ok so everything is pretty stable, but the weirdest thing started... tune the C pedal and B-C# doesn't come back the same after exercising the pedal. Ok so go to tune the raise again (and again) ok something is hanging up. Raise the return spring tension, no help... then I notic...

Hi folks. I ran across a set of photos along the trail (and text) describing proper right hand position - Buddy Emmons is credited as the “hand model”. I can’t find it again... any clues?
