They look like the pick ups Fender Mustangs have, if you're looking for a quicker and/or temporary fix.

Nice work! And thanks for bringing the use of standard tuning to the mix, as a guitarist for many years before taking up lap steel I feel like I'm stumbling around in the dark. I've got to go re-tune one of my lap steels and grab a flat pick now.

This an older Guyatone I picked up a few years ago, the original plastic bridge, or nut as it's on that end was chipped and getting brittle. After searching with no luck I came across a piece of 3/4" cove molding that is the exact shape so I cut a piece to length, spray painted it black and dri...

Online Courses For Lapsteel

I recently got a course from Truefire on dobro playing by Jimmy Heffernan and find it very helpful and enjoyable even though I don't own a dobro (I'm using a lapsteel tuned to dobro open G). I also have a lapsteel tuned to C6 (6 string) and can't find as much about it online as I can for dobro. I wo...

Thanks! That's very interesting, I've been using C6 and open G dobro tuning for a while now but I've always thought there is probably more out there. I've also been playing a lot of bottleneck on conventional guitars which has led me to experiment with open D and various other tunings. After years o...

So I put an extended nut on my Godin Multiac electric nylon string guitar(pictured). I plugged it into a Fender Champion 20 amp and decided I don't like the sound. It's very brittle and the distinction between the wound strings and the nylon strings is too much in my opinion. I did record a short au...

I have a couple of acoustic/electric classical guitars with under saddle pick ups, I'll be dusting one of them off and seeing how it goes playing slide plugged in. I'll post my thoughts here but it won't be happening for a few days. Very curious though. I suspect this guy has steel strings though.

Thanks everyone for all of the info, and to address Douglas Schuch, the student has had a lapsteel for some time and has been picking up tidbits(and bad habits) from youtube. He had several bars of "Aloha Oe" down, albeit with a few technique issues. For what it's worth, "Hula Blues&q...

Spongebob Sparks Interest in Lapsteel Hawaiian Music

I teach at a local music store, mostly conventional guitar along with some banjo, ukulele and lapsteel. I have never seen a Spongebob show but I recently got a 14 year old asking for Hawaiin lapsteel lessons. I'm not big on this music so I dug around and bought Troy Brenningmeyer's "Hula Blues&...

I think this is a great way to up your game, as they say. As you move on to new songs you will inevitably come across technical issues and chord knowledge that you've gained in that one song that you already have down. Each new song adds something more, over time you can nail down a high level of di...

My Search For Hawiian C6 6 String Scores

I have a young teen student who is interested in learning this style and I am looking for more books/tabs without a lot of success. I've got him started on the "Aloha Oe" from the fretboard roadmaps book but can't find much in my online search. Most of what I see in books are different tun...

I bought a blue one last year during the sale that was on at that time. I also had to replace the tuning keys but other than that it isn't bad. I clip a tuner to the volume knob due to the thickness of the headstock.
