Hi Brian The joystick is to make up for the fact my feet are busy on other things. Mainly to work the looper but also can do stuff like change Leslie speed or put the delay into mad feedback. Quite easy these days as almost all pedals use a simple short to ground on a footswitch so not a difficult h...

This might be the best venue I’ve ever played in! Tried out some of the album tracks with an audience and it was pretty ‘spiritual’! St Vincents Chapel in Edinburgh. Fantastic! https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/18230_3D818913404E40EB9C0176167DD8F348_1.jpg https://calummaclean.bandcamp.com/...

Hi Ben Glad its working! I’m going to try and get some more info on the site about how it was recorded and gear used but as a quick taster, these were all recorded live into a Zoom H4n (apart from one) and the stereo files edited and eq’d etc using Logic with UA soft and hardware. I have a small pil...

Thanks folks and yes Gary, post away! My promotional skills are somewhat limited. Even the QR code I used on this post doesn’t work anymore as it was far from being the ‘free offer’ I thought I’d signed up to! The album link is: https://calummaclean.bandcamp.com/album/colour-of-stars https://bb.stee...

Thanks Gary. Its a real boost to get some positive feedback from ‘steel world’. Over this side of the pond, most folk play ‘with an American accent’ as Ken Byng said to me recently. Unfortunately I can only play the tunes in my head and these are what they sound like. https://calummaclean.bandcamp.c...

Alternative Steel Album

Hi

Thought I might stick this album in here just in case anyone is interested in some alternative steel from Scotland.

Cheers

That looks like my kind of setup Ian, but with significantly greater risks if you press the wrong button! In case anyone is interested in what kind of noise all my stuff makes….. https://calummaclean.bandcamp.com/releases https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/18230_588C9226442B46C583322BE5ED4A...

Think I’ve outgrown this now. New pedal board is a converted bass guitar case.

Another option is a simple hardware hack on your pedal. All the foot switches on Strymon pedals are momentary action single pole and all they do is short a control point to ground. So all you would need is another switch mounted on the guitar where you can work it easily and a wire going into the pe...

I agree with bOb that Ext E9 is great for blues. But even on 10 string, adding a half and whole step raise on string 7 with the same lever that drops 2 and use 9 drop for the feel stop turns it into a killer blues machine. It’s on my RKR and supplies all the blue notes you need.

Thanks for the input folks. I don’t know if there’s anyone else in this part of the world on Ext E9 so its good to see what others are up to. I cant imagine only having 10 strings now! Bob, I fitted your C pedal suggestion this morning and its great. I love being able to alternate the E bass wit...

Low E on Extended E9

Hi all I came across an old topic on the forum discussing what changes to have on an extended E9 low E recently. Since I set it up, Ive always had all 3 E’s lowering a semitone on LKR and the semi raise on LKL apart from the low E which goes to C#. I’ve also got a 0 pedal which lifts the top and...

Here's my solution. A cymbal stand with the top bolted to a small LCD TV bracket, the other half of which is on the back of a standard guitar pedal board. Worth replacing the normal velcro with super strong stuff. Also Ive made a joystick control to work various bits of the pedals. Easy enough to ho...

Michael I have also experienced the torture you describe on the A plus F chord. My old LDG didn’t have the issue as the cabinet drop was negligible but when I moved to an MSA Legend it had to be dealt with. I would say just go ahead with your idea and see how you get on. Some notable players over ...

Just Intonation is rational in more than one sense of the word. Not tuning your guitar and trying to sort it with partial knee levers just plain weird. I thought Tim was being a little rude to folk that were only trying to help. But each to their own.... You cant change the Laws of Physics as Montgo...

I use a semitone raise on string 2 as a feel stop for RKL. It does nothing for the first part of the travel and then kicks in and is set to be hard. Ie further away from the cross shaft. Makes the minor easy to hit with only one lever required. I also pull string one up a full tone with the same mov...

Hi Stuart Josh is correct. None of the controls you need are on the tuner itself. You register with Peterson and use the web portal to program a sweetener and then connect the tuner via usb to dump it into the tuner. I think they expect you to use the cents offset function on the tuner to measure ea...

Love the tin Jim! I’m guilty of using a tin opener when I should know better by now! :D Here’s a link to a site Ive found very helpful for tuning practice. http://www.dronetonetool.com/ It has an octaves worth of natural cello drone notes and I use it to practice scales and chords over. Soon mak...

Even more is even better. I have both and a tuned half stop on each. It makes my right knee the minor , bluesy 7th department.🙂
