Comparing version numbers and age of a product is a silly way to evaluate a software purchase. Studio One's "0.0.1" releases are more than bug fixes... they also contain a new feature or three or five. "0.1" releases are actually pretty feature-rich upgrades. Every "0.5"...

Wish I had the funds! I've always wanted one of those and now that Carvin isn't making amps anymore I doubly want one!

Is the tube complement on that 3x6SJ7, 2x6L6 plus a rectifier tube? That is a unique circuit if it's the one I think it is. I need to study that for a bit... never run across something like that. Should sound really nice with all those pentodes!

(sorry I'm one of those tube amp building geeks)

I know what really turned me off to them in the past was that you could not update them unless your Pro Tools software subscription was current. Didn't get one for that reason alone. Is this still the case?

I'm a Studio One user on the latest version. I jumped-ship when Gibson dropped SONAR and have not looked back. Studio One *IMO* is lightyears better than SONAR and I wish I never wasted all that time and $$$ on SONAR. But honestly, it's really all down to what you are comfortable making music with. ...

Have you considered something like a Fender Mustang I? Small, very light, great sounding models of all the classic and modern Fender amps. You could use the headphone out jack to go direct to the board. It also doubles as a great practice amp and light compact backup that I take to every gig and on ...

Can't speak to how it sounds with steel as I'm still a total newbie with that - been playing steel for all of a week now  but I do have decades of experience with electric guitar. However, I would imagine it would translate well. Like anything else, it's all really personal preference though. ...

stewmac.com has a great calculator for placing bridges correctly. Go to any bridge there and you will find a link to it.

Very nice Bill.

So, coming from a "traditional" guitar background I know how critical proper intonation is in that setting. Is that not really a concern with lap steel?

I've come to really like Warehouse Guitar Speakers, made in Paducah KY. I would recommend the WGS ET65. I have bought a few of these and love all of them! Don't let the "British Invasion" thing scare you, these are great for country music. Crystal clear, great headroom. I was going to pos...

Yes I have experimented with detuned cabinets for guitar (the kind you wear around your neck) quite a bit. I am actually a big fan. I've found that a 12" (nominal) deep detuned cabinet with a single 10" speaker sounds pretty darn good. Very "open" sounding with a nice reverb-like...

I have the 8 string model which has a more "steel-appropriate" bridge design. The 6 string model sounds like it has a Gibson-y single tailpiece-TOM style bridge...are the saddles removable? I wonder if you could just mount a bar across that section with the saddles removed. hmmm... there'...

Hi all. New here and to lap steel. I'm from Turlock and hope to see some of you at some point. My band, Sonhouse Blues and Gospel Band plays the area frequently - but no lap steel - yet. Since this topic is frequented by folks in my area, I was wondering if there were any good teachers in the Modest...

New here and SX Lap 2 question

Hey all. First post. I've been lurking for a few weeks after deciding I want to try my hand at lap steel. I'm a somewhat-accomplished guitar player of 35-ish years (mostly blues these days), singer and songwriter from the epicenter of California's Central Valley. Also led worship for many years. I a...
